Texas police capture rattlesnake stared down by 'fearless cat'

A Texas police department shared photos from the capture of a massive rattlesnake spotted by bird-watchers hanging out next to a "fearless cat."
The Laguna Vista Police Department said the Bay Area Birders of LV reported they were on a walking trail Thursday when they spotted the snake.

Obviously this Tom is in top shape, and this probably isn't his first encounter. He knows exactly how far to stay back. If the snake strikes his head will be on the ground.
That is if everything goes as planned.

4 foot is FAR from “massive” for a diamondback rattler (which that one is)... When I was around 15yo or so, I killed a diamondback with 17 rattlers that was 5’11” (with a tree limb and a medium size stone).. and I am sure there are many out there larger

Snakes shouldn’t be summarily destroyed just because people are ignorant about them. Might as well kill the feral cat if you want to kill the snake.
