His warrant was outstanding and still in effect. Sorry you don’t get a pass because you have mental health issues. In reading all of the story it sounds as if the this boy will now get additional help that he needs..

I know you think you are being clever but you are not. This is an aide that has been assigned to a classroom for extra help with students

No. Autism doesn’t make him speak or necessarily act in that manner. His mom is probably inconsistent with him at home making the situation worse

Pay attention! He was arrested for battery against the paraprofessional. In other words, as it seems to me, he resisted the paraprofessional attempt to restrain him.

You know what? I had that job once. I got scratched. I didn’t complain.

H.O.M.E.S.C.H.O.O.L. - now.

What is it about child abuse that parents don’t understand? What will it take for them to wake up?

When teachers were no longer able to enforce discipline, like paddling, the teachers have to resort to calling the police.

“the cops are idiots. It’s no wonder why they don’t know how to handle thugs and street crimes.”

Kid was accused of a serious crime. That requires police involvement. They handcuff suspects *for everyone’s safety* and put them in the back seat.

The new stupid model of putting ‘special needs’ kids into regular classes is a horrendous mistakes. Teachers spend 90% of their time with one kid while the rest suffer.

"Mainstreaming," they call it. It's not fun. I mean, some kids do okay, but there's about 30% who are really a handful.

Yeah, maybe it was overreaction from the adults in the room. Maybe. We just don’t have enough information to say decisively, either way.

“Maybe the kid’s violent assault and battery — hitting other students, punching, kicking, leaving scratches and marks “

Funny as the kid is being arrested he’s screaming “I don’t like being touched” and the mom is saying “he’s autistic he does not like being touched” Yet he did a lot of touching of other people while in class. Strange is that not?

Why did they not spank his butt for what he did? Or expel him?

The school would not be giving him a paraprofessional (aide) if he weren’t impaired.

If he has a paraprofessional, then he has an IEP for his disability. I’m sure the mom is correct in saying he has Autism.

Okay. Thanks for the correction.

Mainstreaming is a disaster in most cases IMHO.

Hope the parents can get help. Sad the police were called, but the staff of a school is facing lawsuit if they restrained the boy.

In order for some kids to function in the mainstream of schools, they need special attention. The paraprofessional is like a dedicated attendant that accompanies the student to his or her classes in order to be on hand if something should come up. The paraprofessional is an employee of the school and works with the child from the time they get off the bus in the morning until the time they get on the bus in the afternoon. If for some reason the paraprofessional is absent, they get a substitute.

What is a “paraprofessional”?

I quite agree. If his teachers or “paraprofessional” had got out the “board of education” on him maybe he would have cut the crap.

Federal law requires every child must be “educated”. They even force parents to send anacephalic (born with very little brain tissue and very small heads) kids to school, who have the mental age of an young infant, and physically grow no bigger than a 4 year old. Obviously, some of the children sent to school, get no benefit from it. But there are all types of mental impairments, from the anacephalic to the high functioning autistic kids. Every parent holds out hope that their child can reach their maximum potential, but some kids are so impaired, they get nothing out of going to school.
