I walked around German Village in Columbus, Ohio for the first time about two months ago (beyond the requisite trip to Schmidt’s on my way out of town). Those kraut immigrants were squared away.

You bet! As were the Irish immigrants, the Hunky immigrants, etc. Those folks came to America to work, and to assimilate.
