Maybe in that capacity, you can get some fellow "seasoned-citizen" retiree babes to work for you, then build your customer base niche from among the other seasoned male retirees in the neighborhood...

(Just to clarify a couple points - I am not trying to encourage any kind of sinful behavior by anyone, no matter how old they are, but if you do set up such a business, you should also set up a cardiac unit in your business to deal with the inevitable inconvenient distractions that will begin to occur fairly regularly among your aging clientele, as well as among your employees, as the clients and employees injudiciously and ill-advisedly engage in transacting your heart-taxing business.)

Woke up one morning with a plot and a desire to write. Never had a thought about writing before.
Wrote the first three books in about a year and of course made no money to speak of.
Am in the process of finishing the fourth which should be out in a few months. Don’t expect to make any
money on it either but the writing has improved and my beta readers like it and describe it as a page
turner....hope springs eternal.

If You-know-who can be photographed, e.g., carrying one of your books onto Marine 1, your second career is guaranteed.

Just ask Tom Clancy.

I retired early at 50 on a mountainside in Montana. I worked driving a water tanker during fire season for 5 years but the money wasn’t worth giving up the best part of summer weather for. I did get some good stories out of it though.

My job now is parking out my land. I’ve been at it for 10 years and it will take me another 10 years to finish. Currently clearing out an ATV trail for a second bridge over my creek. I am hell with a chainsaw and wedges and I’ve only had one burn pile get away from me so far. Learned my lesson from that and now only burn in cleared areas with a 25 gallon water tank on site. You can put out a lot of fire with 25 gallons of water. If I need more I get it from the creek.

I also built a second shooting range a couple years ago. After I built the first range several neighbors also built them. Now I hear gunfire occasionally that isn’t mine. The sound of freedom I call it, and the booms sound cool as they echo through the mountains.

Hunting, fishing and FR take up the remainder of my time. Those, as well as reading and Bridge, lots of players around here, keep me plenty busy and the months fly.

Winters are long though and not for the faint of heart.

And there are WAY too many people running around out there that SHOULD be medicated, LOL!

For giggles, I go to my old store and pull out my, ‘Don’t You Know Who I Am?’ card whenever I can.

*SMIRK*

HAHAHA!.....

I never went back to Penny’s and now they recently closed it along with Sears and the other anchor store.

We have huge new shopping area on the other end of town...complete with hotels etc...several strip malls , TArget, Super wal-mart, SAm’s club etc, Lowe’s and the like.... they all moved out of the mall to this area. So our Mall is really on it’s last legs.

I love to sit at the airport lounge and watch all the hustle and hustle go by. Invigorating to see all the young folks headed on to some excitement and adventure.

The trick is starting with $2 million dollars...and within a year, we should be ‘Millionaire’ Farmers!

Farmer: "I got up at 4:00 am and worked until sundown. And, if instead of doing that, I had stayed in bed until 9:00, had a cup of coffee, gone outside and thrown a hundred dollar bill to the wind I would be ahead of where I am now.

Exactly. And THAT is why we lease out a lot of our crop land for hay and alfalfa! We’re in Cow & Horse Country.

I am currently reading a few books - Beau said he’d give me an acre of my own to grow anything I want. Burley Tobacco would be the most profitable per foot per acre, but morally he’s against that. *Rolleyes* I’m considering a cut flower operation, specializing in one or two things. Maybe herbs for local restaurants? Research is the thing for now.

I’m also hoping pot becomes legal in ‘Sconny before I’m to old to grow it. Now THERE is a Cash Crop, Baby! ;)

Cut bulb flowers are both profitable and fairly easy to grow.

If you get a contract with a restaurant or a bed and breakfast, (my favorite customers!) you can make a nice return.

Any extra you can get rid of at the local farmer's market.

I just discovered that wood turning videos are extremely popular in case any FReepers are into that.
