“I live in Texas, it’s summer already.

Does your Gov’t legislate 12 months of summer?

“Depending on the proposal, Carter tried this and kids were getting hit and killed walking to school buses because it was still dark in the morning. Is anyone mentioning this?”

I don’t believe it. FAKE NEWS

The daylight is not affected by our time clocks

No, it's not, and neither should you take my words so literally.

There is a rational basis for advancing and retarding our clocks, which merely help us keep track of the planet's rotation throughout each day.

Humans tend to be herd animals, who are easily trained to follow and obey arbitrary rules, such as fixed numbers on a dial. Instead of taking full advantage of the daylight available in a given season, they'll adjust their daily activities to the arbitrary numbers on a time keeping device. Why? Because all the other sheep do, whether it makes sense or not.

Without daylight savings, I'd have to adjust the schedules of my business and my employees throughout the year, just so we can take full advantage of the available daylight. You want to talk about an inconvenience? That would be murder on my whole industry and all of our customers.

That’s what North Korea did.

North Korea sets clocks back 30 minutes creating its own time zone

You have offered the best explanation, right there. It seems that DST eliminates the need to change business, school and labor schedules, especially when thousands of individuals are involved. Makes sense.

Happy Easter WF;)

Sorry misdirected humor. Everything we do brings the global warming or whatever closer to happening.

FAKE NEWS

I was a school kid when this occurred. Recall a freezing winter morning, in the dark, looking up at the full moon, and a pal offered me a slug from his flask. Never liked the taste of booze, before, but I took a healthy swig, because of the warming sensation.

Fake for two reasons: I graduated high school before Carter was elected, this took place during the Nixon administration (RN also decreed a cutback on Christmas lighting). Secondly, the mothers of the day predicted exactly this outcome, so if kids had been getting hit and killed, even at average numbers, it would have been BIG news in my area, I don’t recall ever hearing about a real case.

Thank you.
