We as the public own the federal lands and the stewards of the lands, our government, manage them. Definitely issues with that management and I hope we'll see some fixes by Trump's administration.
Knee-jerk insults, dismissing me as left-wing, etc., when I am not, show unwillingness to debate the points. Guess you want a band of yes-people to echo-chamber your anti-government hostilities?
A shame really, since there are meaningful discussions on several topics:
- Did Bundy's steal grazing on our public lands? By their own admission, yes. And since they previously paid, then stopped, why? Were they too poor, did they just want to live off the taxpayer, trying to get away with it, thinking they could? As I already said, in my opinion they were simply thieves, nothing more.
- Besides, were others ready to pay to graze on those same lands? By multiple reports, yes, a line of other ranchers ready to pay to use those same lands.
- Did the Bundy's and armed people organize and stand with arms to continue stealing the use of our lands? Yes.
- Should the public own lands? In my opinion, yes. I enjoy that 82% of Nevada is open to public access and use. And, yes, as noted above, we need better management and rules.
- Finally, and I could go on with questions, but how about this? Is the blatant theft of public grazing, backed by arms, an appropriate response to public ownership and management of those lands? Does this help the cause of anyone wanting to have the government divest of some of those lands?
So, instead of insults and trying to shut down conversation or inconvenient points, why don't you engage in a conversation, answer questions, not distract with anti-government BS?
