I actually think they’re just gonna give this guy his own jet, if they can do math. Ain’t nobody can stick together and boycott like Asians.
They need this to go *away*. I wonder if this guy’s about to break for lunch from patient rounds and doesn’t know his phone’s been bombed into shrapnel by lawyers in the meantime, if he got back to KY another way.
So, you're ok with LEO smashing his face into the armrest and knocking him unconscious?
“driving looks good at 12 hrs”
That’s about my rule of thumb. Many times I’ve started my return trip home, driving, late Thursday afternoons and was home before the sun came up. Once you enter an airport your level of freedom declines a bunch and the whole experience just sucks, to be blunt.
I do not fly United unless absolutely necessary. Nearly all of my flying is with Delta, currently Delta Diamond for the last several years with almost weekly travel. Delta is good about resolving conflicts such as this, by offering travel vouchers. As a small business owner, I take it advantage of these whenever I am on my return route as these sometimes cover the entire cost of the travel. There is always a price at which someone will volunteer to wait for the next flight. Surely that is cheaper than what United will now suffer. If United simply picked volunteers, not offering incentives, this is a pretty thuggish approach. All cheers to the passenger and to anyone who had been inconvenienced by United’s efforts. Whether the law allows or not, in the court of public opinion I am sure these folks will make out quite well for United’s stupid behavior.
So you agree it is just fine to be assaulted by airline staff, or their assault proxies.
Got it.
I hate flying.
There are seats reserved for crew members on flights to reposition the crews to staff planes in other cities. They are usually not able to fly on other flights due to the crew members’ schedules and duty regs. Not sure if these were positive space crew members but I doubt they were just flying for fun or to get home.
In the past, they used to keep upping the dollar credit for free travel they gave to bribe passengers to step off the plane until they cleared the overbook.
My best payoff back in the day was $1600.00 plus a free night in Chicago (yippee) OHare, a year free membership to the Admiral's Club and a ticket on the first flight out in the a.m.
Now it seems they just count heads to pull people and then bust heads if the passenger who the fickle finger of fate has frowned upon chooses not egress the aircraft.
That level of offer would have had volunteers.
United bean counters probably put a kabash on it since.
Now they are paying the consequences, with their business.
We have a number of statists who don’t think we should be discussing *anything* but bread and circus.
You would still have to board and unboard passengers at public terminals. Same security issues so the same long waits to get through security.
The only differences would be much slower trips and far more limited number of arrival and destination points (you can't have trains that go non-stop from every city to dozens of other cities).
High speed trains are good for getting from point A to point B. They suck at getting from point A to points B, C, D, E, F and G.
Bullshit
If that’s the case then united should have secured four seats for their employees instead of overbooking the flight

If this was normal scheduled scheduled critical flight crew reposition it should factored in and flight crew should have been boarded first.
If it was an emergency relocation to remedy an aircraft on ground problem then United should have went the extra distance to compensate passengers for removal as cost of doing business
The take away here is that United is so hard pressed financially that they have cut service and customer service to the bone
Lots of choices for air carriers so it’s worth considering when you book a flight.
There are some really miserable airlines out there these days and the more the miserable they are to deal with the more demoralized, agitated and unpleasant the flight crews are .
Since airlines have reduced the number of available flights, I suspect we will see more of this.

Great deal, but I was great customer for them too.
United is going to lose revenue on this one.
Security for trains is not nearly as thorough as for planes. And at least point-to-point is downtown, not 45 minutes away out in the sticks, which is where most airports are these days.
They were must rides. It was my crew that was deadheading. We would have cancelled a STAR flight without this deadhead crew.
Fortunately, I was not working last night..!
Nice!
Politeness pays off as well.
I was next in line a the check-in counter for a flight from Logan in Boston to Chicago.
The guy in front of me was a complete obnoxious a-hole to the clerk, when i came up next i was very sympathetic and nice to the woman, even cracked a few jokes about the guy.
BOOM! First class ticket was placed in my hand.
That was one flight that i did not want to end.
Another time my politeness resulted in a handful of free drink vouchers.
