The entire Bush family is very much about globalism. Sure Bush did a (lot) of things which were very good for America.

So what is the set back distance between the border and the edge of the owners property line?

Not a chance. It’s called “NATIONAL SECURITY”. It TRUMPS everything. No liberal rancher/landowner or liberal judge will hold up the building of the wall. “Believe me!”
If a construction project is to ensure national security, doesn’t the government assume the property via eminent domain? So, where’s the obstacle?
Anything infrastructure is problematic.

Trump is a big fan of eminent domain and asset seizure.
And it’s Texas again. Build a fear or problem over something that’s never going to happen. There will be no wall on the southern border of Texas. The wall will be from El Paso to the west coast, that right a way and a fence already exist.
I never heard the MSM mention the case of the Casino Commission trying and failing to use eminent domain. I heard about it ~1000x from Cruz supporters, who never came remotely close to stating the facts correctly.
Right now, it’s probably disgruntled NeverTrumpers who are ***hoping*** the MSM broaches the case. It’s unlikely they’ll get their wish.
Just watch them.

I lived in Texas for a while. It is a great place. I liked it quite a bit.
But they are way, way too globalist, among the upper crust there. The establishment in Texas is completely sold out to globalists.
I love Texas, but we need the wall, for the whole border.
All of it.
There’s probably about 3 people along the Mexican border that do NOT want the wall. Maybe their neighbors can vote that the dissenter’s property be placed on the south side of the wall where they can continue to flay the Mexican flag and enjoy the company of their southern neighbors.
Because not all the landowners will agree without a fight. I suspect the biggest bone of contention will be the amount paid for the land and whether the government will also pay for land between the wall and the border,
It’s fine if they don’t want the wall on their property. Put the wall on the other side of their property and they can be Mexicans
It’s hard to imagine a better example of where eminent domain (taking for a public purpose with adequate compensation) is merited, IMHO.
The federal government routinely tramples the rights of property owners - most notably through the EPA. Now we’re being told that property owner rights must somehow take precedence over national security? Nope - build the wall.
From my experience, most of the land owners want the illegals stopped. And most of them support a wall. There are other means to fill the gaps if any. It is a lot easier to cover gaps than the whole expanse.
