Nivea has withdrawn an advert that was branded racist on social media and shared by right wing groups.
The German skincare makers ad for a deodorant included a picture of a woman and the slogan white is purity.
It was posted on Niveas Middle East Facebook page with the caption: Keep it clean, keep it bright. Dont let anything ruin it.
The post sparked a backlash, with social media users accusing Nivea of being racist and insensitive.

It used to be 99.4% pure, which might be OK even today if you adhere to the “one drop” theory.
BLM, the Klan with a Tan, must have complained.

Interesting tidbit....
The German brand barely made it through WWII. Nivea had been previously known as a Jewish brand and suffered from hateful campaigns that meant to take down the business. Although Niveas executives never showed any support to the Nazi regime whatsoever, they did start featuring blonde, light skin models in their ads to dodge being banned. However, they always remained neutral in regards to their political beliefs. At the time, Nivea was the best-selling skincare brand among Jewish and Nazis alike.
