Power-intensive. Basically a big refrigerator. The a-coil in your central air unit does much the same thing.
Wonderful.
Look under “atmospheric water generation”.
This is very old technology.
There is a company in Miami that makes these machines but uses aluminum heat sinks that condense water from the atmosphere. This is illegal in the USA due to food and safety laws.
I tried to buy on of their machines a few years back and they told me to get lost if I lived in the USA.
I thought about ordering one through the Bahamas or Bermuda, but I found a dehumidifier company for indoor swimming pools that made a “do not drink condensate” unit that would meet my needs.
The project faded away as my homeowners association started putting restriction on outdoor equipment and it was cheaper to drill a deep well.
Check this out for more...
They’re just trying to drown Arabs and must be stopped. Send money.
Wondering about price. None given on website. At least one unit is made for home use, so it must be within a sane range.
Off the grid!
So if your neighbor claims you’re condensing his water, he can tax you or claim some of your water for himself?
Just trying to think like a progressive/liberal here....
Not going to work in the more arid parts of California, which are the locales needing the water. If there’s very little moisture in the air to begin with, there’s not going to be much condensate to capture.
Pretty much. And “80 degrees and 60% humidity” is not “thin” air, as air goes. Much of CA and the southwestern US sees 60% humidity only once in a while.
The BDS crowd will condemn this product simply because it was invented by Israelis.
go on.no one that is a conservative can think like a liberal - twisted logic does not come naturally to conservatives

I’ve been experimenting with a ductless mini-split heat pump with ceiling cassettes on an old RV. Appears to me that in a reasonably humid climate, you can do this with a heat pump. I’m in NC which is pretty humid. It’s kicking off 5 gallons a day on really humid days. As far as drinking water, I’m a little concerned about the components touching the condensate since the heat pump is Chinese. I’m thinking an antimicrobial surface treatment, possibly silver would be in order. Still not sure if there’s anything else to be concerned about. I’d just route the condensate to the holding tank of the RV. That would be great for off-grid camping, you’d have enough water for daily use of two people so long as you had power sufficient to run the heat pump, for cooling or heating.
60% is low humidity where I am.
The actual physical volume of air that has to be processed is tremendous.
This has hoax written all over it.
No it doesn’t, not a hoax. See my reply #33.
Give the darn machines free of charge to most 3rd world populations, and in fairly short timeframes, they will be out of service for lack of maintenance.
But more importantly, don’t mark them as “Made in Israel.”
Thanks! There is some good information there. I’ve sent it to a friend who is an officer of the board on a mission team that works in the Dominican Republic. Clean water is, of course, an issue. Drilling a well does not guarantee that the water will be clean enough for consumption.
Yep. Simple as that.
Too late....I'll never go back to that stink hole.
