If he’d done all that in Germany in 1939, he and his whole family would have been on the first train to Treblinka.

Not Treblinka, as that extermination camp was built/opened in July, 1942. In 1939 some would have been sent to Dachau or one of its sub-camps. The first German concentration/extermination camps for “the final solution” began in June 1941, with experiments with mass killing methods had been ongoing at the concentration camp of Auschwitz, near Krakow, Poland.

Sorry, I’m a historian and like to have the facts correct. :)
