Believe this first gen weapon shoots 10 rounds per minute. The projectile weighs, I think about 25 pounds. I believe a naval 3 inch gun, has a shell that weighs about the same, but that weapon counts on explosives to do most of the damage instead of just kinetic energy.
I believe that was development continues, range and projectile size will both increase. The Army is testing a variant was artillery.
Would love to see if eventually scaled down to a rifle also.
One of the big issues with railgun technology is that the rails wore out quickly. How many shots will this one deliver before the gun rails need replacing?
