Hollywood is using a film with pro-life themes to fund abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
On April 8, the makers of Juno are hosting a live read of the movies script as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. The Los Angeles reading will feature an all-female cast, including original Juno stars Ellen Page and Jennifer Garner. The hit 2007 movie followed the story of a teenager who gives up her baby for adoption following an unplanned pregnancy.
However, Juno director Jason Reitman denies that the movie promoted a culture of life. According to Entertainment Weekly, Reitman wanted the reading to resolve one point of debate about the film: that it was about choice, not life.
If there was any confusion about whether Juno was pro-choice or pro-life, this should settle that, Reitman insisted. Juno had a choice, and that was the most important part.
On the bright side, perhaps the reading will unwittingly send a camouflaged pro-life message to an audience that needs it most.

I haven’t seen the movie in years. But I thought it focused on the life of her unborn baby. I recall a scene where she considered abortion, but a classmate of hers told her that her tiny unborn baby had fingernails and was truly alive inside her. And that helped Juno decide to have the baby and give it up for adoption. So now they are saying Juno exercised her choice on how to deal with the unplanned pregnancy?? What the heck?
Never heard of the movie “Juno” until this article. Was hoping there were some FReepers who could tell more.
I always liked Jennifer Garner. Now, I’m not so sure.
It’s worth a watch. The acting is good, the story is sweet. And she ends up placing her (Oops!) baby with a decent family.
I thought it was a win/win. *SHRUG*
“So now they are saying Juno exercised her choice on how to deal with the unplanned pregnancy?? What the heck?”
They’ll say ANYTHING to raise a buck. Even if they INADVERTENTLY say the RIGHT thing from time to time. ;)
She *did* make a choice. She had accurate information and used it to decide to allow her child to live.
Most women who have abortions aren't making a choice at all. The abortion industry uses high-pressure sales tactics and lies to convince them to have abortions. In many cases, the abortion industry begins with the lies and high-pressure sales tactics before they ever get pregnant.
Of course the perfect couple she picks turn out to be not so perfect and split up. She ends up letting the baby be adopted by the wife.
Oh man, what a stupid thing to do. It won’t dent the truly pro-life message of the movie. I wish the people who made it respected it. “your baby has finger nails.”
I’m so surprised you don’t know this film! It was a huge hit, I know that’s amazing considering...Hollywood. But it was. I think it’s top Oscar was “best original screenplay” or something to that effect and I think maybe the actress that played the part of Juno won the Oscar too. BTW, the woman that wrote it is named Diablo Cody or some such stripper sounding name like that. The Lord really DOES work in mysterious ways and sometimes it seems like he’s pretty much a 4 year old about it.
It really is a very good movie, sad to a certain extent, but very much life affirming in all ways, esp. including the fact that we, as humans, are pretty much fallen failures, but we strive with God’s help.
Ellen is a homosexual. Why are they so interested in funding baby murderers?
I was unable to avoid watching Juno as it was shown on a flight back from a deployment, in a row with the screen right in front of me. It’s a sad movie with pathetic, shallow, cynical characters who reflect the lost society of today. It was depressing. Then when I got back to the States I noticed this movie was always placed inappropriately in the children’s movie sections of stores. It’s a brainwashing movie that teaches kid it’s OK to get knocked up and for couples to divorce. Depressing this passes as entertainment.
Pro-lifers were too quick to promote Juno as a pro-life movie. Bella actually is one, and can often be shown on college campuses to students for free.
The two facts are aligned as a rejection of procreation.
No, Jason Bateman was a jerk, and that was the most important part.
