I agree with you it is really hard to explain autism to youngsters and the issues the youngsters have vary greatly child to child.
Like the saying goes: If you've seen one child with Autism, well, you've seen one child with Autism - the spectrum is so wide.
If I had a dollar for everyone that says: "My sister-in-law's friend has a cousin with Autism...."
Sooo, you understand what it's like to raise a child with Autism - thank you for your understanding (said silently).
I think it's just a matter of people extending a little grace towards something they don't really understand - you don't have to understand, just allow us a little grace, please.
