A waiter was fired from a Southern California restaurant after asking customers to prove they had legal residency before serving them.

The Los Angeles Times reports Sunday that 23-year-old Brenda Carrillo says she and a friend got the question at Saint Marc in Huntington Beach. Carrillo says the waiter later asked her sister and another friend to see their proof of residency. …

This is so bassackwards that it smells of leftist stunt, even though the guy was supposedly fired. Residency of customers hasn’t got anything to do with anything, they could be tourists.

Sure does. What waiter would have the presence of mind to even bother to do that anyway? Rat smelled.

This is CA. I won’t be surprised if both the waiter and the restaurant owner are in on this.

What restaurant says you have to be a legal US resident to pay them to eat there? None that I’m aware and it’s really none of their business. Now, if you want to turn that around and say that the legal residency of employees such as this waiter is the restaurant’s business, then you’d be getting somewhere. The likelihood that the waiter’s an illegal alien is pretty high, in my opinion.

It does have an air of virtue signaling about it, doesn’t it? Even donating a week’s profit to the charity of the womens’ choice. Did they say what their charity was?

Maybe the waiter was making a “statement”.

This is not the traditional definition of “dumb waiter” but it fits.

Probably a fake story.

If not, the waiter should be fired for harassing customers. Then deport him! Haha

the restaurant offered to host Brenda Carrillo and her friends as “VIP guests” this weekend and to donate 10% of the weekend’s sales to a nonprofit of their choice.

The friends declined, but asked that the restaurant donate the share of proceeds to the Orange County Immigrant Youth United, a Santa Ana-based organization that advocates for immigrants living in the country illegally.

Bearden says the restaurant will honor the women’s request

But Brenda and Diana Carrillo say they’re disappointed that the restaurant scrubbed the apologies from their social media accounts.

“To us, that makes us feel like they weren’t really sorry,” Brenda said

Why would a waiter ask this? This is not believable.

I highly doubt a waiter asked this.

Why? Why would anyone possibly ask a customer this?

Makes no sense.

What a strange coincidence, that their chosen charity deals with illegal aliens.

Sounds like a hoax, perhaps to get money for their illegal-migrant advocacy group.

Let’s hear the waiter’s side of the story.

The customers refused any service and left, went on a “social media” rampage, reject an offer of being “VIP guests”, want the restaurant to donate money to a group promoting illegal aliens - which the restaurant said they will, and they’re still not mollified.

I wonder if the waiter meant staying at the hotel. Some restaurants in hotels are (or used to be) only open to people staying there

"Carrillo says the waiter later asked her sister and another friend to see their proof of residency."

This sounds like he wanted to have their addresses for dating purposes. I would have to see a picture of the two ladies to better construct the theory.
