No, I think that method was taught to them, because it would be the easiest to learn in a short period of time.
They said the actors actually tossed the knives into the target, which I believe.
It probably took me close to 6 months to get good at throwing knives holding them by the blade and flipping them a half a turn into the target at a distance of about 10 feet. But the grip I use in this method is different than the grip they used tonight.
But with that method, if the distance to the target changes after the throw is made, the throw is useless.
It took probably another 6-9 months to get really good at a no spin combat knife throw. That is really hard to learn.
