Thanks for the pings! Great shots! I've never seen a tricolored heron so that was real nice.
My walk today in the East Mojave was nice though. The black-throated sparrows have returned en masse. The whole desert was alive with their "two-notes-and-a-trill" morning song!

Awesome shots. The bald eagles were back where I lived last year, population up, birders getting great pics. I kept my eyes open but I only lived there a year and never saw one.
Here I see the local L.A. City bird overhead every day: Police helicopters.

I know this is very late in the thread, but I'm wondering if anyone can identify this little guy or gal for me.
I'm wondering if it's a female Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It's pretty small, about 4-5 inches, I think. I'm estimating the size based on other birds that have been near it. Ideas or thoughts?
