TIME Article Demands Brands Publicly Declare Political Loyalties

Consider that for taking a quiet stand against hate speech by pulling its ads from the alt-right site Breitbart, Kellogg’s is targeted with #DumpKelloggs by readers who saw the brand’s actions as an attack on their values. Target removes gender-based signage from its toy aisle, and outraged customers insist they’ll never set foot in the store again. Audi champions equal pay for women in its Super Bowl ad, and while the carmaker was applauded by some, others pilloried the brand across social media for suggesting things aren’t as they should be . And Starbucks’ stand for refugees and against the recent immigration ban led some to #BoycottStarbucks.

Five weeks into Donald Trump ‘s Administration, and at a time when expressing cultural values can end decades-long relationships in the time it takes to post 140 characters, consumers and employees are looking for new ways to be heard, represented and served. They’re increasingly voting with their voices, their choices and their wallets. Brands need to take heed, or pay the consequences.

What’s clear is that the people buying from you and working for you want to know if you’re on their side. Or not. They want to know if you’re doing something to make the world better. Or not. And they will reward — or ignore or perhaps even boycott — you accordingly.

“Hate speech” is too often just left-wing double speak for “speech we don’t like and want to suppress because we are intolerant of any opinions we don’t like and don’t care at all about the First Amendment.”

Good point. Let’s see Time declare where its loyalties lie. And CBS. And the Washington Post. And the New York Times. And Facebook. And Amazon. And Google. And Twitter. And...

The first paragraph listed here from the article is entirely partisan misrepresentation and spin. Of course, to them it’s about stopping Breitbart’s “hate speech” not trying to silence conservative thought; it’s about “stand[ing] for refugees,” not discriminating against local workers by creating quotas to hire refugees above other people; it’s about toy designations and not about allowing men into women’s restrooms (and vice versa). No one reading something this slanted wouldn’t know where Time stands. There is a good reason why the media’s trustworthiness ratings have dropped so far below the ground they are now approaching the edges of hell.

At this point I’m hearing support this and boycott that but they rarely even mention who or why? LOL!

I’d say” One for Americans and one for the fascist.”

Snowflakes are being used and Khrushchev warned us in 1959. We will get you through your schools.

Just shut up and sing. That’s the message to singers like the Dixie Chicks. Don’t go against my beliefs, or do without my money and support. At work, management was looking for 100 percent participation of employee donations to liberal causes. I refused and took flak. Don’t try forcing me to spend my personal money on organizations that run counter to my beliefs!

Same goes for Kellogg, Target, Starbucks etc. Just shut up and hawk your products without the politics, or I’m outta there... and keeping my money in my wallet.

Well, it’s asymmetrical isn’t it? Libs have formally organized a campaign to boycott anyone advertising on Breitbart and they do mean “anyone” (Alzhiemers Association etc.). Those organizations know that Libs will slander them if they don’t drop Breitbart advertising. On the other hand, Conservatives don’t react quite the same way - theym may shop elsewhere, or maybe not. They may say why they shop elsewhere or maybe not. They don’t stalk, threaten or malign people the way libs do. So yes, Time knows that Libs are far more destructive and it’s instigating to get more victims of lib stalking/harrassment.

It’s easy. Just disengage your brain and keep stabbing yourself in the thigh with a knife so you feel permanently aggrieved and if press or automatically. Hey, I could poetically make a good living writing for Rachel Madcow, if she still has any viewers left!

That would make the most sense, business wise.
Too bad most of the big ones do the opposite of that.

Is it because everyone knows time’s loyalties are the democrats?

Perhaps these tolerant people can paint red stars on the windows of businesses that support Conservatives.

this is why Time magazine is a dead magazine walking.

It is not even a part of the debate.
