He is one of the most famous mousers in the world and has spent half a decade longer at Number 10 than Theresa May.
But has Larry the Cat lost his bloodthirsty edge?
Downing Street insiders have said the docile moggy is happy to snooze while mice scurry past his nose and that he lacks the killer instinct of some of his more ferocious colleagues.
While staff are full of praise for the skills of Treasury cat Gladstone and Palmerston of the Foreign Office, Larry has been spotted playing with a mouse before allowing it to scamper off.

Time for a new cat
Our cat never killed the mouse ,I think she kept them as Pets ,LOL
...it’s not the kill for the cats, it’s the chase
Just hold the Kibble for a couple of days...he will soon find his mouser instinct again...
Then OTOH, why so many mice? They’re letting their crisp’s crumbs remain on the floor or in the couches or not properly securing the pantry.
4 years ago, our cat and the cat next door were hunting a mouse in the back yard. They finally cornered it and each one had it for a moment, then they fought over it and both got bloody while the mouse escaped.
Someone needs to tell Larry that Trump terminated the “Catch and Release” policy.
But not for the U.K.
I had a cat I named "Radar" who acted like a dog. He would fetch and bring back stuff. He would come when I called him. One day I noticed him playing with something outside. Turns out it was a small rat. They played together. They would follow each other along the top of my wooden fence. One day the rat came to my back door and peered in. I let the cat out so he could play with his new little friend.
Sometime after my Radar passed away, I found a feral mama cat under my deck. She had four kittens. When she was through nursing them we trapped them all, took the little ones to a rescue and got the feral cat fixed. Turns out she is one hell of a mouser. We have no rat or mouse problem anymore, which is a good thing.
But, I sure miss my little Radar.
They get them all softened up and proudly bring them to the wife or I and lay them in front of our feet.
Amnesty cat. If the mouse is already in the house and has been an otherwise law-abiding mouse, then let it go.
I knew that terriers were quite good at rats, but I didn’t think that they would be as effective with mice. Interesting.
Perhaps the Brits can contemplate mohamhead’s cat while awaiting their sharia overlords.
Chickens are the best mousers I’ve seen. Packs of mini raptors. Vicious.
I heard it was a judge in Hawaii that put a restraining order on the cat for discriminating against Mouslims
The building is over 300 years old. Not much chance you are going to be able to rid a building that old of mice.
"Mousie mousies what I love to eat;
Bite they little heads off,
And nibble on they tiny feet!"
We hired a feral alley cat to deal with the roof rats. He will occasionally will provide evidence of by the back door. The cat never eats his kill, but we have to watch to make sure the dog doesn’t get a morning snack.
