Hope you enjoy. Dont Dream Its Over

Wow! I remember that one!
Beautifully done.
I miss the 1980s.
High School, college, The Army.
I liked Split Enz a lot, this was quite a departure from them.
Yes!
Love, love, loved this song. I know this was one of the Finn brothers... was it Neil, or Tim?
It was Neil, although Tim later on did join the band.
I think of the late 1980’s at least two songs pop to mind;
one is this song “Don’t Dream It’s Over”, clear, melodious and lyrical, the other
is “Wild Thang” a funky, energetic, dance magnet, as done by Tone Loc, one of the very early rappers, when they were still fun to listen to.
Just before Eminem made it big.
Wow! That song reminds me of an old girlfriend. Within 18 months, “It was over”
I love that song. I try to understand the meaning of it; it’s kinda like being defiant and whining at the same time — quite a contortion; but the song sounds amazing.
Great song!!! Love the 80’s. This should be the Dem’s Theme Song!
I love this. I remember the beginning early scene where Molly Ringwall character played this record after burying her father in The Stand.

My possessions are causing suspicion but there’s no proof.

I don’t know; the first verse kinda sets the tone, and it sounds like the guy is saying, “the world looks overwhelming to me; it’s difficult; I haven’t the capacity to cope with it; maybe I’m even a loser (although I would never use that exact word), and you’ll never see the end of the road if you’re traveling with me.”
But, “hey now — even if people say I’ll never amount to much, and you could do much better, you should come with me anyway; you’ll see; it may be a chaotic trip to nowhere, but together we can handle it; plus I really need you; and it’ll be fun wondering what we’re gonna be gobsmacked with next”.
That’s why I said it’s kinda like whining and being defiant at the same time.
Even so, I love the song; there’s just too much existential hippie in its drift.
