This song is on my playlists for jogging. I still remember it from when it came out (yes, I am old). I don’t remember, though, did they ever get the cover?

They did make it, in 1973. (Three members did, anyway.)

Love Dr. Hook.

One of the few stoner rock bands whose music is actually worth listening to, IMO. Shel Silverstein was a pretty clever songwriter,

A lot of good memories from the time of that song for me, anyway. I have their greatest hits CD in my Jeep stereo lineup. They put on a great live show back then, too.

I remember singing to “Silvia’s Mother” quite often when it came out. I was maybe 11 years old lol. They just wrote great songs.

Great memories of this song from the mid 70s. The song sounds kind of hokey today but back then, it was considered edgy with all that talk of groupies who "will do anything we say" and "Cocaine Katy".

They got a little slicker in the late 70s with a string of soft rock hits.

I actually used to read "Rolling Stone" back then. In those days, they were focusing on the music scene and not nearly as political as they are today.

I wonder about that every time I hear the song. I was thinking that if Rolling Stone gave them a cover, they might not like the precedent. But I would have given it to them, their song was a hit and enhanced the general familiarity with the magazine. It is now a piece of garbage, but back in the day, it carried a lot of weight in pop culture.
