From what I recall, Obamacare was designed to fail. If you believe what's written about it, it's circling the drain right now.
From what I have read, the GOP version is more of the same - very similar to Obama's failed monstrosity.
If it's the same-o same-o, why won't it fail, too?
And why won't the resulting crash be blamed on Republicans now, instead of Democrats?
Thats the big secret buried in the bill. Illegal aliens were barred from Obamacare and Ryancare weakens the requirements so they can get in.
There are enough trees in DC. we will not have to use lamp posts.
To be fair.. Trump did say ‘repeal and replace’ during the campaign.
I guess many of us didn’t expect obamacare jr?
I wish I knew, I’d put it up on Youtube.
The GOP has 52 senate seates, 4 of which are wobblies who will defect if they don’t get the goodies they want.
It takes 60 votes for a stand alone clean repeal. Do the math.
Gutting Ocare through reconciliation takes 51 votes. So they are doing a 3 stage “fix” because that’s all the votes they’ve got. And the crappy nature of the fixes is due to the 4 wobblies (Portman, Capito, Gardner and Murkowski) who have threatened to defect over Medicaid expansion rollback.
We need to capture 8+ senate seats in 2018 to really strip Ocare and other federal overreaches out of their statutory spider holes.
The revolution isn’t over, it hasn’t hardly even started yet.
That's hokum. Stifles deliberation.
My only problem with “conservatives’”
concerns about medical spending is that they never seem interested or concerned about the price tags for the wars they want to start. Trillions for the invasion of Iraq, but I never heard Ryan or many freepers express a concern about that boondoggle, paid for by borrowing all that money from China and mortgaging our posterity Plenty of freepers want us to go to war with Iran, but once again nobody shows any interest in how much it will cost and where the money will come from. That’s today’s fake fiscal conservatives
No, retched works just fine.
Behind the frequent arrogant sneer there’s a deep sadness about that guy, it goes back a long way with him, imho, he was on the receiving end as a minor originally, I’d say. That sadness says he’s capable of redemption but the sneer says he’d have to be dragged to it kicking and screaming. All this is again just my opinion.
blah blah blah
You are all utterly useless.
None of you want conservatism. You don’t even know what conservatism is.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU . . . sit down and draft language you want that will qualify as Reconciliation. Go ahead. Try.
You can’t. So then you go to, well, we’ll just change the rules on Reconciliation. Go ahead. Try. Think you can get 50 votes for that?
You can’t. And you know it. But you still blah blah blah.
Politics is the art of the possible. Ryan has offered up gutting the major parts of Obamacare. What he has offered is within the purview of what is possible. None of you have offered jack shit of anything possible at all.
HE (Ryan and McConnell) HAS FEWER VOTES THAN REID HAD. Reid had 59 votes.
What he has proposed is genius in the amazing extent that can be achieved with just 52 votes.
Oh, and one more thing. “Why surrender to the possible? Why not propose total repeal and to hell with replace in my bizarre delusional world this is going to shame everyone and get 60 votes.” The various pieces of legislation already put forward had all those right wing perspectives. They died on the floor. You didn’t hear about them because you didn’t read every single vote taken and insignificant events don’t get reported.
So write up your legislation to do what you want. It won’t get even 50 votes, let alone 60.
Ryan has proposed what is possible. You have proposed nothing.
The revolution isnt over, it hasnt hardly even started yet.

Paul Ryan is trying to strangle it in its crib.
Don’t worry about having 60 votes in the Senate.
Ryancare won’t even pass in the House.
It is so funny the real “conservative” choice would be to repeal all the mandates that force any health care provider to care for an ill or sick patient with or without the ability to pay for it.
Since that is not going to happen our government needs to figure who is going to pay for these people who can not or will not pay.
The safest bet is to get behind President Trump and work with him on addressing concerns. Not run and hide.
The solution is in the tenth amendment. The federal government was never intended to be a solution to society’s problems.
In this present crisis, government is not the solution; government is the problem,
“Retched” or “Wretched”
Poetic license: Nurse Ratchet, ( ed ), from “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Nurse Wretched” as being “miserable” or “unhappy”.
Sometimes it is necessary to read between the lines. Maybe you are too young to remember Nurse Ratchet from “Cuckoo’s Nest”.
Might be most helpful to look at what conservatives want changed:
an amendment to the bill that would move up the date for freezing ObamaCares Medicaid expansion to 2018, instead of 2020.
...to repeal ObamaCares essential health benefits, which mandate healthcare services that plans must cover, as well as ObamaCares insurance regulations, like the ban on discriminating against people with pre-existing conditions.
Yes, I and many others were naive until we kept handing them victories and they kept puling that they couldn’t do anything until they had MORE power and now they control both houses of congress and have a friendly POTUS in the white house and they still can’t seem to move.
“There are enough trees in DC. we will not have to use lamp posts.”
ROFLaughingly Brilliant!
What is your plan? How would you do this with only 52 senate votes, four of which are squishy and Mitch f’ing McConnell as senate leader.
Pretty sure this is why Obama was complacent about his signature legislation after the election. He knew the numbers made a clean repeal impossible.
