I grew up in a rural county at the base of a mountain with broadcast towers on it. We'd entertain ourselves when maintenance crews replaced bulbs by watching them through a telescope. The tallest is listed as being 572 meters.
The fireworks show when lightning struck them during summer thunderstorms was something else, too.

The tower climbers used to charge $1 a foot. It’s probably $5 now.
Also, the small horizontal “bow-tie” antenna elements he clamped himself to at the top? I doubt they would hold human weight. They are usually hollow copper or aluminum tubing.

My dad was friends with a technician who worked at the tv station broadcast operation at the base of the tower I mentioned upthread. We used to go visit on occasion, once to see a meteor shower but usually in the daytime. The foundation of those tall towers is fascinating, a huge metal ball like a giant ball bearing, with the guy wires to stabilize it. I was told that the tower had to swivel at the base in order to properly flex in the wind, otherwise it would bend and break. So, as gut-churning as it is to look at that man on top, know that the tower was also in motion if there was any wind whatsoever. I know we could see them moving whenever we were watching maintenance crews through our telescope.

That's a long way up there.
If it helps, consider that after the first 30-40 feet, it really doesn't matter how high you climb, you're just as dead if you fall. Behave accordingly.

I’ve just got to ask: what is the point of a hard hat, way up there?
Bird poop protection?
When I was a kid, I used to climb electrical towers for fun. I’d sit on the very top, and slowly rock, which would get the wires dancing.

When I was younger I worked on cranes and manlift equipment and I would have wanted to do this.
Now my hamstrings and muscles are cramping up just watching it.
