The next time you place an order at a fast food joint, you could see a robot behind the counter. Flippy is an AI-driven kitchen assistant that can flip burgers and place them on buns, and it debuted today at a CaliBurger restaurant in Pasadena, California. Flippy was developed by Miso Robotics and CaliBurger's owner, Cali Group. It uses cameras, sensors and deep learning software to locate ingredients in a kitchen without needing to reconfigure existing equipment. Not only does it position and flip the patties, it tracks their temperature and cooking time too. When the burgers are done, it alerts a human cook, who applies the cheese and other toppings.

Sponge Bob hardest hit. Considering CA is the center of both Silicon Valley and Social Justice Warriors seems appropriate the answer to the $15+ minimum wage is being rolled out in CA.

Robot was also programmed to say these words while performing its task

“Hey, I got your minimum wage right here”

Maybe they can program it to pick mellons & grapes? THAT would certainly get things going in the right direction on another front.

If it can work the drive-thru without f*cking up my order, I’m sold.

The minimum wage has been flat for almost 2 decades. It is not pegged to inflation. I do not think the current minimum wage had anything to do with this automation attempt.

Speaking of hygiene, I wonder how sanitary those robots are after awhile with all that flipping and fetching in the kitchen. Not that the human workers are anything to write home about, but at least they do stop and wash up periodically.

it would be funny if the robot broke at dinner time and the last remaining humans in the restaurant wound panic because no one has been trained to flip burgers

Automatic harvesters are being researched some already built. The cost for most are higher then humans but as the social warriors continue their battle against the laws of economics it will soon be cheaper to have machines do the work.

youtube has a number of examples.

Some still require humans but it is only a matter of time that the whole process from tilling to planting to harvesting can be done automatically.
