The rise of 'modest' fashion (Luxury hijabs and abayas)

Trend analysts have dubbed what they interpret as a new wave of feminism the "pluri-empowerment" factor, says Iza Dezon, a trend forecaster at Peclers Paris.

"An empowered woman is no longer subject to a specific definition, nor must she live by a specific set of values," she explains. "We're seeing the opening up of what empowerment means, allowing women to create their own definitions."

The modest movement has been gaining steam for a few years now and the hijab has become a recognized symbol. In 2014 DKNY launched a bespoke modest fashion collection. In 2016, Dolce & Gabbana released a line of luxury hijabs and abayas.

In the same year, H&M featured a Muslim model wearing a hijab in a video to promote their sustainable fashion line. Last November, Halima Aden was the first beauty pageant contestant in history to wear a hijab at the Miss Minnesota USA competition.

Last month, Aden was invited to Milan to walk the Max Mara and Alberta Feretti catwalk in her hijab, having also been cast by Kanye West for his Yeezy show in New York a few weeks earlier. This week, Nike announced the launch of their first "pro hijab."(continued)

Leaving hijabs and abayas aside - I think it has gotten easier to find modest clothing. My older daughter is ten years ahead of the younger, and it was hard to find suitable church dresses for her, by which I mean falling close to the knee, covering the shoulders, and not being too tight or too low.

Now, it’s easier. If 90% of the dresses aren’t suitable, 10% are.

I went to the funeral of a 14 year old once. Most of his classmates came. The girls wore black but they looked like they were going out clubbing. Why weren’t their mothers pulling clothes out of their own closets and saying, no, this is what you need to wear for a funeral?

On Valentine’s day my youngest went to school in a scarlet dress that was one of the most outrageously feminine things I’ve ever seen - gauze over solid, floaty skirt, fitted but not tight, bow at narrow waist - and entirely modest except for the eye-catchingness of it all. She wore it with Converse sneakers. And there were other girls in the tight knit dresses that you have to keep hitching down as they ride up, and the platform stilletos that hurt your feet and your balance.

Why do we allow this to be done to our young girls? In my town, why do the oh so feminist, careerist mothers not protect and guide them?

Man, the twists and contortions the left goes through to justify global oppression of women, all in the name of gaining a new voting block...

...the hypocrisy is deafening.

Liberals are united with muslims in their hatred of Christans. Liberals foolishly believe that meeting of the minds will be enough to protect them and their immorality once Christianity has been destroyed. They are in for a very rude awakening.

Simple illustration to demonstrate the insanity of the lib-left.

Imagine a fictional country that was 99% Evangelical Christian. No terrorism, no throwing homosexuals off buildings, no beating or stoning of women, no demand to have Biblical law replace the US Constitution, no demand that women wear head coverings, no fatwa’s issued against people who have taken the Lord’s name in vain. Just lawful people who follow God’s Word in their own lives and who wish - but don’t impose - the same for others. The country suffers a severe famine and there are several million of these Christian citizens who ask for refugee status in the US and Europe.

The liberals would block any attempt to let these law abiding folks into western countries, condemning their “misogynist, homophobic, anti-women, backward” views as detrimental to the new western ideals of “diversity, inclusion, non-judgment”, etc..

Islam stands for everything that Christians have been falsely accused by the lib-left for decades. Muslims truly want to overturn the Constitutional order of western nations, to subjugate women, kill homosexuals, destroy freedoms of speech and religion and assembly, to attack perceived “blasphemers” and impose Sharia law. And the lib-left insanely calls for more muslim immigration, viewing them as a potentially loyal voting bloc. They have sown the seeds of their own destruction and most - not all - can’t even see their folly.

One side is fighting spiritual warfare, the other class warfare. There is a line but it’s not in plain sight. It’s more about what, or rather who, you follow.
