Teen Fatally Shot After Girl Sneaks Him In, Dad Thinks He's Intruder
NBC2 ^ | 2/28

An East Georgia town mourns the loss of a local teen over the weekend who was shot after a girl sneaked him into her house and her dad mistook him for an intruder.

A burglary call brought police to a home in the overnight hours Saturday, but before officers arrived, the teen was dead.

It turns out the victim, 17-year-old Jordan Middleton, was a friend of the homeowner’s daughter.

The homeowner, Derrick Fulton, told police he heard noises downstairs, so he got his handgun from a dresser.

When he got downstairs, the family’s dog led him to the guest bedroom. Fulton told deputies he called out that he was armed and the intruder needed to identify themselves. When Middleton didn’t say anything, the dog kept barking and acting aggressive toward the bedroom.

Once again, Fulton yelled a warning.

As he entered the bedroom, Middleton ran out of the closet and Fulton shot him in the chest.

Deputies found the young boy lifeless in the foyer.

He _was_ an intruder.

Technically.

Why not talk with the dad as opposed to act like how he acted? 17 year old idiot brains, i suppose.

“He _was_ an intruder.”

Not if he was invited by a resident of the house, which seems to be the case.

He should have announced:

“Chill out, Old Man! I’m just here to F your hot little daughter!”

He would still have been shot.

He should have gone back out the same window he came in through...

“Not if he was invited by a resident of the house, which seems to be the case.”

That may be a problem.

Your kid can invite someone into the house and you can’t go shooting their friends that have been invited into your home.

He was screwing the home owners daughter in his own house. Not guilty.

Stupid girl. She needs to at very least lose her phone and car privileges for a while. The boy has already paid for not thinking before he acted. His family cannot really blame the homeowner but they probably will anyway for a while.

This tragedy should make the father wonder #1. How many times had this boy sneaked in before, and #2. How many other guys period have been coming by during the night? #3. Was there alcohol being drank (age 17!) or were there illegal drugs being brought in? #4. Who else knows he was coming over?

It does not matter if they were having sex or studying algebra, the daughter has the right to invite friends into the home.

Or he should have raised his daughter in manner in which she would not be inclined to not invite dudes over in the middle of the night.

She’s a minor, she has no such rights. Secondly if try to screw someone’s daughter in their house then you deserve to be shot for rape.

The only rights a minor has in her father's house, other than basic human rights, are those granted by her parents.

Children don't have the right to invite anyone into the household without permission.

This unfortunate dad probably had no idea that someone had been asked into his house. How was he to know a prowler had been invited by his daughter? Not guilty.

Man....I used to climb into my girlfriend’s second floor bedroom window at night when I was a teenager. Never got got:) I also knew dad did not have a weapon. Young people do stupid things. Just a fact of life.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.

Here is what I think — I don’t think the world is any worse by having the idiot dead and this itchy finger “dad” charged(and jailed?) with homicide.

“The age of consent in Georgia is 16 and there is no close-in-age exception, though the offenses are a misdemeanor rather than a felony in cases where the perpetrator is less than 19 years of age and is no more than 4 years older than the victim.”

If she is 16 or older, she is of age.

If she is 13 or older it’s just a misdemeanor.

That’s kinda sick down in Georgia.

Maybe dad had a rule that the daughter could not invite guys over in the middle of the night to have sex but she can still grant access to the home and the invitee is not breaking a law.

Agree. Are we supposed to ask someone we hear in our home, if they are invited by our minor child, especially in the middle of the night? Also, the homeowner announced he was there and armed and to come out. And, why did not dear daughter say something? I am sorry but, when my child lived at home, if I caught someone I did not know, in my home in the middle of the night, I might have done the same.
