Mexico's Cemex, one of the world's largest cement producers, is open to providing the raw materials for U.S. President Donald Trump's promised wall between the two neighbors, daily newspaper Reforma reported on Wednesday.
"We will gladly do it," Cemex President Rogelio Zambrano told the newspaper, when asked if the company would provide a cement estimate for the controversial project, potentially worth billions of dollars.
It was not known which other companies might participate or the likely demand for cement for the wall, Zambrano said.
On Wednesday a spokesperson for Cemex provided a statement to Telemundo. "Cemex is not a U.S. construction company; it's a company that produces materials for construction. To date there are no technical details about said construction and no one has sought us out to participate. If one of our clients asks us to quote materials, we have the responsibility to do so, but that does not imply that Cemex would participate in the construction."

I would not trust ANY Mexican-made product, especially for this purpose. Nothing wrong with U.S. manufactured products, thank you.
Top quality concrete, I’m sure.
Too much opportunity for sabotage.
Build prisons Mexico, prisons! Because there are a lot of bad hombres returning to your streets soon.
I guess you are all correct. Sabotage, etc.
I guess I’m naive but my first thought was wow they want to help!
Yeah I’m just that stupid. LOL!
You all are correct. This should be built by native-born or naturalized citizens.
Uh, no thanks dudes, we will BUY AMERICAN.
If they use Mexican cement they better check each load to make sure it is up to American standards. Remember when there was an earthquake off the Pacific coast and it caused buildings, way inland, including a hospital, in Mexico City to collapse due to substandard cement and construction practices.
I am one of those post image of first pop or obscure reference relevant to any random event guy. However, I am on my stupid IPhone, and have not been able to figure out how to copy image URLs...so mentally cue image of Fat Tony on the Simpsons with his union labor cabal building the wheel chair access ramps for Springfield elementary school seconds before they collapse
Might want to check H.B. Zachary in San Antonio- they built DFW, among other large projects.
so, I just incorporate my cement business here, using a straw man, then be low bidder, then buy my cement from Cemex and sell to the feds.
I am reminded of my experience with a DC gov’t agency...working out a task to buy office chairs.
In the end, rather than allowing me to buy chairs at X-price...I had to buy via a women-owned or minority-owned business, and pay 20-percent on top of the discount price that I had arranged for. What I figured out after the deal was forced upon me by the organization budget people...was that this woman-owned company consisted of one single woman, who worked out of her home in Penn, and was simply paying someone within the DC structure to ensure she got various contracts throughout the year.
On this border discussion...it’s a 99-percent chance that Mexican concrete will be used. You may buy it via some American middle-man...but there are various characters lining up to pretend to be American concrete companies....just fakes. We will all laugh about this in a couple of years when the concrete starts crumbling.
Buy USA products only, USA.
so what I’m hearing from you is, my straw man needs to be a women ?
When they talk up this concrete contract....a woman-owned company would get an inside seat to bidding. One American woman...connected to the Mexican concrete company...could shape up $500 million in concrete sales, and take home at least 1-percent profit off twenty hours of actual work.
When you watch congress pass all the budget allocation for the wall...just note the fine-wording of the wall paragraph.
Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie look over the wall at the Alamo, see 40,000 Mexicans approaching. One asks the other "Are we doing concrete today?"
Good point ! They will need to keep all their cement for use in Mexico to build prisons and housing for all their returning citizens.
It’s a trap.
Mexican products are mostly crap - it’s the only country I’ve been to that has warm ice.
A wall along the Mexican border. I’d love to have the spray paint concession.
