Target, stung by the migration of its customers elsewhere, pledged Tuesday to spruce up some tired stores and make other investments in its business after delivering weak quarterly results and an outlook far below what analysts were expecting.
The retailers profit for the quarter that includes the holiday season fell 43 percent, with strong online sales failing to offset weaker business at its stores. Targets stock tumbled more than 12 percent, and other retailers dipped as well.
Target said it will spend $7 billion over the next three years to remodel more than 600 of its 1,800 stores, speed up its expansion of small-format stores, bolster its online operations, and launch new brands. The company usually spends about $2 billion a year on such capital investments.

The saga of the Target Canada failure was a gruesome story indeed.

They made three huge mistakes that killed their business. The first mistake was that they opened too many stores at once, which meant every one of those stores had to have an unrealistic per sq ft sales performance. The second mistake was that they did not research the Canadian market to know the types of winter clothing we use in Canada. Nobody in most of the country wears wool coats, but that’s what their best foot forward. The third mistake was a lack of understanding how much Canadian retailers learned from having to compete with WalMart. They learned to allow their stores, that were around Target, to lose money and they would make it up in the stores that weren’t near a Target. That meant that Target had to compete in every location, while the Canadian retailers only had to compete in the areas where they were near a Target store.

They IMMEDIATELY took away the little red children’s shopping carts when a few customers complained but when they lose customers by the millions over letting men in the ladies bathroom to urinate and defecate next to little girls and to have direct, unsupervised access to little girls with their panties around their ankles, crickets.

Double down on stupid.
Not only did they start allowing men in their women’s bathrooms, they also raised their prices so high it’s cheaper to shop elsewhere. It’s a two-fer!
Haven’t shopped there since last April. Don’t intend to ever return. Walmart has everything Target has and it’s cheaper.
yeah, no buying this stock until this fool SJW CEO is run out on a rail and a new CEO installed that sticks to knitting. Even then it might be too late.
Same thing happened to JCP, and even though they nuked the SJW CEO who precipitated their decline, all they’ve managed to do since then is slow the bleeding.
Once customers leave (for any reason), they almost never come back, usually because they shop alternatives they never considered before and they find they like the alternatives better than what they left behind.
The first rule of retail ought to be: NEVER give your customers a reason to shop at a competitor.
They just slapped an ugly paint job on the neighborhood Target here. That should really boost business.
The p!$$ed off half of their customers because of the tranny-crap.
We know it and they know it.
Maybe they can invest in having live “Tranny shows” in front of their stores — you know, where the Salvation Army kettles used to be.
My neighborhood Target, one of the first, is redoing their display racks/shelves right now. I bought the last of a wire rack last night while it was on sale and talked to the staff.
They said that they are involved in a major rearranging of the display stands/products but don’t know what the final floor plans are going to be.
nice people, good products, stupid corporate leadership.
Target can do what they care to which is pushing perversion.
I can do what I care to and that includes NOT shopping at Target.
