Former Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear offered the Democratic response to President Trumps speech before Congress Tuesday night.
No matter what Beshear was saying and no doubt he said a lot of inspiring stuff it was a little hard to take him seriously because I couldnt stop thinking about the late religious whacko Marshall Applewhite.
Applewhite, who organized the Heavens Gate Cult, gained notoriety in 1997 when he convinced 39 people to commit suicide by telling them that martians would give them new bodies.
No doubt the two men dont have a lot in common except for those piercing eyes.

When did Beshear get his new martian body? Maybe Applewhite was right after all!

Inspiring stuff?? What the what? The doddering old fool couldn't even remember what party he belonged to. And he spent much of his time praising ObamaCare.
Really, this guy was a perfect response to the best Presidential speech we've heard in decades. He was the perfect example of an old has-been party with no direction.

I had the EXACT same thought when I saw him last night.
Very creepy.

I’d rather take my directions from an Applewhite than Beshear or any ancient relic of a democrat.

He really was the perfect one to do it....and it leaves me scratching my head about who selected this guy.
I think it is possible that no one wanted to put themselves in this position..not even Warren. Why didn’t she do it???? Or Booker? Etc.

Beware of men with piercing eyes, for they shall tell you of greater things, things which have no relation to the real world. And having once bought the promise, there is no going back.

He was selected because of the Obamacare exchange known as KYNECT, which was touted as a huge success. What he f,ailed to mention was that it closed down on Jan 1st.

Ahh yes, old Governor Steve. I had many years of laughter at his expense while he was governor of the commonwealth. The local morning news guy on the radio used to savage him mercilessly with spoofs.
I expect that the Dems chose him to deliver the response because he doesn't immediately come across as a coastal elite douchebag, which is not very popular right at the moment. Problem is, he comes across as a doofus at times, but an affable one. I guess they figured that was better than the aforementioned coastal elite douche treatment.
The guy ran his campaign on passing casino gambling in Kentucky, and the whole thing was hysterical because he *believed* he won the election because of that, and then spent both terms putting out budgets reliant on gambling revenues, appointing opponents in the legislature to judgeships to get them out of the way, and generally using every trick in the book to get his way, and failing. It was humorous because I knew for a fact he didn't win on his casino gambling crusade. He won because the last guy was an unpopular republican, and for no other reason than that.
The man gave the appearance of laboring under a false assumption on this issue for both terms.
