As a teenager I was surprised by old family friends who lived at the NC coast, telling us that we wouldn’t be in there if we knew what was swimming around our feet. They’ve lived there all their lives, have a nice Grady White fishing boat, I guess they know what they’re talking about. I’ll still go in but seldom beyond waist deep and never past the surf anymore.

After I watched Jaws in the ‘70’s I never went out past my waist. That movie scared the crap out of a lot of people. I bet sailboard dealers lost a whole lot of money because of that movie...lol

At the beach when the fishing is good there’s not many sharks around. When the fishing is lousy it’s all sharks and skates.

Always got a good laugh when the day tourists were frolicking in the surf on bad fishing days.
