FULL TITLE: 'Real men provide. Real women appreciate it': North Carolina residents plan protest over 'sexist' billboard paid for by a mystery organization

Women are planning this weekend to protest a North Carolina billboard with a message they say is a slam on gender equality, according to media reports.

A billboard on a highway between Winston-Salem and Greensboro reads, 'Real men provide. Real women appreciate it.' It's on Business 40, a heavily traveled commuter stretch of an offshoot of Interstate 40 that runs between the two cities.

Winston-Salem boutique owner Molly Grace said that she sees the sign's message as an attempt to silence women who want to be seen as equals to men.

I totally agree with you again.

Except that daycare is an unacceptable
Substitute for parents. It
Might work if there are some
Amazing grandparents living with the couple because they might love
The kid as
Much as the parents do. Kids need full on loving supervision from 0 to 18.

I appreciate that my husband is a good provider and good father. But most of all I appreciate that he’s my best friend - my soul mate. He’s not an ATM.

Split the housework 50/50. This is also part of pulling one's own weight.

It's nice in theory but I have no problem with traditional gender roles.

Mr. mm works and brings home the paycheck we live on. He fixes things around the house that I can't.

I work part time to afford some of the extras, but the lion's share of the housework is MY responsibility.

I always figured that it was only fair and reasonable that if he was out working earning the pay, my *job* as it were, was taking care of the house and making sure that ran as smoothly as possible, including laundry, shopping, cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc.

I worked full time before i got married and lived at home. My mom always had dinner ready for when my Dad got home, which was the same time I did, and I well remember how much I appreciated being able to sit down to a good meal when I got home, tired from working all day.

The problem is that you then have to hire someone to take care of the house and someone to cook.

Oh, he probably still expects his wife to do that. While also working a full-time job.

The U.S. was a far better place to live and ran along with few problems when the men provided, the women appreciated it and the children appreciated and honored their parents.

Amen!

Men providing for their wives and children is a biblical requirement. This means a great deal to a lot of Americans

To imply that a woman is not pulling her weight if she is not making money is of course false, and insulting

The value of a mom at home is immeasurable.

In different times, the physical labor a woman performed in caring for the family was a full time job.

It probably equals out even today with dishwashers and prepared foods, etc. It’s still physical labor and time consuming.

What you are describing would be ideal. Economic realities make it impractical.

Most American women don’t appreciate jack squat.

With few exceptions, they are generally loud mouthed, pushy, and not very bright, which is why I have no problem treating them like they deserve to be treated.

This is why Trump married a Slovenian.

“Oh, he probably still expects his wife to do that. While also working a full-time job. “

And you know this how? Oh, that’s right...you don’t. You were merely assuming.

The reality is that my wife sometimes works full time and sometimes part time. The amount of house work I do is dependent on her hours. If she’s full time one week I take half the house work. Sometimes I’ll do the cooking, almost always do the dishes, clean the kitchen, and do some of “picking up”. I will also tend to the cat. She will take care of the laundry but I’ll haul baskets up and down the stairs for her, sometimes cook, and do the dusting and floor sweeping on an as needed basis.

You should guard against making assumptions about things you are not informed about.
