Boehner: Republicans won't repeal and replace Obamacare

Former House Speaker John Boehner predicted on Thursday that a full repeal and replace of Obamacare is “not going to happen.”

Boehner, who resigned in 2015 amid unrest among conservatives, said at an Orlando health care conference that the idea that a repeal-and-replace plan would blitz through Congress is just “happy talk.”

Instead, he said changes to former President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement would likely be relatively modest.

“[Congressional Republicans are] going to fix Obamacare – I shouldn’t call it repeal-and-replace, because it’s not going to happen,” he said.

Boehner’s comments come as Republican lawmakers across the country are facing angry constituents at town halls worried that Obamacare will be yanked away without a suitable replacement.

“Failure to repeal ObamaCare will result in a loss of approx 30-70 seats by the GOP in the US House in the 2018 midterm elections. It’ll destroy their base’s turnout.”

Actually, it’ll be an even bigger deal than that. It will result in the new Democrat Congress putting a single-payer, government run health care system on the President’s desk, and when he fails to sign it, they’ll say the collapse of Health Care is all due to Trump.

And in the end, it will result in a Democrat President and Congress and full-on communism in the U.S. flavored by a significant Muslim spice. It will be Europe on steroids and a real shooting war will ensue.

The GOPe doesn’t care because they just want their part of the spoils before they head to Fiji, or New Zealand, or Aruba or wherever with all their ill-gotten wealth when America explodes.

That’s what we are really dealing with here.

I wrote up a plan myself that would bring coverage to nearly all US citizens and cost Uncle Sam modestly more than the PPACA does:

http://www.freerepublic.com/~briangriffin/

no employer or individual mandates or fines

extraordinary mandatory issue open season - every 4 years, exchange only

employer tax credits for optional annual open seasons

no coverage scope mandates - only federal subsidy cutbacks

hospital block grants to help exceptional cases with premium payments

80% maximum federal subsidies, excepting hospital block grants

loss ratio tax on non-employer plans
[That eliminates the need to expensively micromanage insurers.]

Small premium increases possible in case of insurer need.

Trump is the only wild card that MAY make the difference.

They will repeal it only if they can cause Trump to take any blame for what ever pain they leave in it.

Part of that math will be lowering of taxes.

I was in Costco yesterday and Apples were $3.29 a pound and the cheapest beef chuck roast was near $4.00 a pound yet Obama kept the cost of living from going up even 1 %.

Oh, of course they will repeal Obamacare, because Tuesday nite Paul Ryan said on Hannity’s show that they’re working on it right now. /s

This is so wrong. 5 people that I know make over 40k a year. Their ACA premiums have increased to the point where they can no longer afford it. THEY HAVE NO COVERAGE. Meanwhile, at least one bloke that I know makes 26k a year and has full coverage ACA for just 125 dollars a month. That is sooo wrong. This thing needs to be trashed ASAP. If they blow this there’s gonna be hell to pay.

I love how Trump flushes out the RINOs and miscreants who we thought might have been worth saving at one time. No mas! No mas!!

Hey Boehner if it is not repealed it will collapse on its own and many will suffer. Trump will not let that happen, however if the GOPe forces that to happen they will pay the price in 2018. It will be repealed first and replaced at later time.

>>Can anyone name me a time when our government returned any stolen liberties back to the people?<<

It’s win hold win for the democrats. They push their agenda like 2009, 2010. They will fight ferociously to keep it. The Retards will soften their stance as they always do. The Retards are not much more than the party that thinks they can run the bureaucracy better. In practice that is mostly what they are. They talk differently and occasionally do something genuinely conservative.

But as for repealing a big program, I can’t recall anything big. Newt was the most successful in reducing the welfare rolls. And when the Retards had their first opportunity to make small government real, GW made government bigger and more powerful instead. TSA/Homeland Security, the drug benefit and no child left behind come to my mind.

Does anyone, here, actually believe that those "angry constituents" constitute an accurate representation of those lawmakers' constituencies? I do not!

The fatal flaw in Obamacare is this...a healthy younger adult can simply pay the fine and avoid sky high premiums. Then if and when he/she gets a serious health problem, they can sign up with their state approved health insurance company.

That is why insurance companies are losing money. They are left with mostly high cost, high risk customers.

If instead, the health insurance system was based on my description in my profile, it would be better for all, the healthy, the young, the old, the sickly and whatever else.

It will happen because Obamacare can't be fixed.

It has to be junked.

Mister (and Mister Boehner should take "mister" as an insult) Boehner is a disgraced failure.

He knows this much.

Apparently, he thinks that he might be viewed in a more kindly light if his FAILURE to prevent/overturn obamacare can't be fixed in the current administration.

In other words, we might say "gee, Boehner was okay because we can't fix this either".

HAHAHHAHA Our success in overturning the job-killing and people-hurting obamacare will be a stunning contrast between success (MAGA) and failure (Boehner).
