As the second trial continues for activists who occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, federal prosecutors have subpoenaed a former reporter for Oregon Public Broadcasting.

John Sepulvado, who now works in California, interviewed Ryan Bundy for broadcast last year on Jan. 9.

In the interview, Bundy discussed matters like why the group brought guns to the refuge and whether the occupiers prevented federal workers from doing their jobs.

Prosecutors have said previously in court they consider the interview relevant evidence. THE SUBPOEONA WAS APPROVED BY U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL JEFF SESSIONS.

Defense attorneys have said they'd like to know more about the context of the full interview, which was edited for broadcast. The second stage of the trial concerns the cases of Duane Ehmer, Jason Patrick, Jake Ryan and Darryl Thorn......

The prosecutors in the second Oregon Standoff trial asked the new boss in Washington, Attorney General Jeff Sessions. to help make their case against the protestors.

The word is that Sessions approved their request to subpoena a former Oregon Public Broadcasting reporter, John Sepulvado, to appear in court to talk about his interview with Ryan Bundy during the Oregon Standoff protest.

The Trump Administration has weighed in to help prosecution of the second group of protesters on trial in Oregon.

Many of us had hoped that the new administration would shut the prosecution of these people down, but that's not the signal we are getting with this action.

Last week the POTUS sent out a picture on his Twitter feed giving the thumbs up alongside the wife of Venezuelan political prison Leopoldo Lopez. President Trump called for the release of Lopez.

Well what about those considered political prisoners in our country like the folks being prosecuted in Nevada over the Bunkerville Standoff in 2014?

What about the political prosecution of those who came to Oregon last year to protest on behalf of the Hammonds, the ranchers jailed as terrorists for lighting a backfire to protect their land from a brush fire?

I do not believe the President has the authority to interfere with a on going prosecution. He may pardon them after a conviction. Sessions is coming into the middle of this. He will back the Prosecutor till the trial is over, as he should.

They damn well better figure it out soon.

Sessions may see this as a "law and order" issue but that isn't what it is.

It's about Trump's supporters in the West tired of being victimized by a far Left Federal government under the Obama administration that never believed in private property.

So Sessions needs to get past his outdated viewpoint and start asking real questions: like what drove these people to this in the first place.

So far, I haven't seen him making any moves to identify and arrest the violent terrorists in Berkeley who deprived hundreds of people of their civil right to free speech and association.

I guess if the Bundy's had put on black masks and beaten up people, they'd be free today?

Wake up Don.

The Bundy case is a severe overreach of the US government. It is time to drop all charges and move on.

Sounds like Sessions wants to be sure they have as many facts as possible - nothing wrong with that. As far as being "outdated", he is perfectly correct when he says the laws must be enforced equally and if a law is bad, it needs to be changed - if laws were broken, he needs to stick with his promise to enforce them even if we hate the result. Just as many think the Constitution should have some "noble cause" clause because of the times it seems to allow bad people to profit and good people to suffer, some think we need to enforce laws that haven't been enforced, but not enforce the ones we disagree with - ironic.....

The thug that executed Roy Finicum needs to face a firing squad.

There should be NO mercy for that pig including the judge that ordered the hit.

“Many of us had hoped that the new administration would shut the prosecution of these people down, but that’s not the signal we are getting with this action.”

I agree whole-heartedly. Even if Trump was not up on this situation I hoped Sessions would be and that this persecution would be shut down.

I know reporters have been held in contempt for refusing to reveal sources when ordered to do so. Can the court hold the reporter in contempt if he pleads the fifth?

How does this Bundy group fit in with Evan ‘McMuffin’, Glenn Beck and the NeverTrumpers?

Lavoy Finicum was shot in the back. Two times. Each by different OSP sharpshooters who were there to do exactly that.

You just never mind those FBI goons policing up their shell casings that they never fired.

I don’t disagree - there might be more in the wings once the case is finally closed. There’s still areas that we don’t have the full info on, but it certainly appears that Obama’s Admin did some serious overstepping. I’ll wait until it’s done and see what else Sessions/Trump may have to say/do before I make assumptions that Sessions is aiding and abetting government overreach. Not claiming that’s what you did because most of us believe what you said.

Beck divorced himself from Cliven Bundy in 2014 at the Bunkerville standoff.

Beck ignored the protest in Oregon last year completely with the exception of worrying in a tweet whether LaVoy Fincium’s death would cause protestors to commit violence.

Beck’s obsession with stopping Trump and promoting Tec Cruz was more important than Oregon and I took note of that in deciding to support Trump.

One area I think the White House can act on ASAP is the release of the ranchers whose cause was taken by Ammon Bundy and the others in the Oregon Standoff protest.

Dwight and Steven Hammond were jailed as terrorists for lighting a backfire to protect their property, forced to go back to federal prison to serve the longer “terrorism” sentence after serving an original shorter sentence.

RELEASE THE HAMMONDS NOW MR. PRESIDENT......
