C3PO has always reminded me of Stan Laurel (the thin one of Laurel and Hardy). Stan’s voice could get high pitched but he wasn’t gay.

The Director's Cut of Blade Runner has Deckard being a replicant himself, so no harm, no foul.

I had thought C3PO WAS a female ‘droid. Certainly is fantastically effeminate.

The “beautiful robot” has been part of science fiction (once called “scientifiction” or “STF”) going back to the days of Hugo Gernsback, one of the founding fathers of “pulp” science fiction stories and novels.

Another question:

Are there ANY droids in Star Wars that are humanoid AT ALL besides C-3PO and his variants? R2-D2, BB-8, the droid army and the many droids in the Jawa’s and Hutt’s lairs mostly beep and whine. K-2SO seems masculine, in that it’s dark, hulking and scary... but that’s by purposeful intent of its creator, not because it’s masculine.

The only way I can picture any of these being more feminine is to put metal boobs on them, which would of course be ridiculous.

Just what Star Wars needs - a backseat-driver droid who won’t shutup, and always tell you to put the toilet seat seat down.

“Female” protocol droid on the Trade Federation ship in episode 1. I believe her operating number was TC-14.
