Certainly since the eyewitness accounts and reports at the time, the Saddam/plastic shredder story seems to have vanished down the memory-hole - accounts available now include the likes of reports of testimony at Saddam's trial in 2007, which mention a meat grinder clogged with human flesh and a Wikipedia report on human rights violations during the years of Saddam's rule which include tell of people lowered into vats of acid...
Clearly the poor man has been unfairly maligned in the eyes of the world.....

If there HAD been a plastic shredder, we WOULD have seen photos of it by now, yes? But, there has been no evidence whatsoever that such a thing existed.

Saddam and his sons were brutal and enjoyed inflicting torture, but we've got to adhere to the truth of things no matter how un-sensational it might be. There simply was no plastic shredder which Saddam's enemies were being dropped into.

Yes, during my quick search I checked out Melanie Phillips' smash book The World Turned Upside Down and came across this passage, which brought to mind a contingent that seems strong here on FR:

The absence of proof is not the same as the proof of absence (usually it means someone just didn’t look hard enough).....

Apparently you did NOT read comment #2, which said this had been disproved. Also the murder of babies in a Kuwait hospital by Saddam’s soldiers was later said to be untrue. On the other hand a Jordanian soldier was burned to death in a metal cage, and Sadam’s son Assad probably gassed around 5,000 men, women, and children in the Kurdish area. It is also said Allah disapproves of murdering the innocents, although I recently read that in Iran a 9 year old girl can be executed, but boys have to be something like 15 or 16.
