I’m thinking that the mindset was payback for V1, V2 etc. bombings, Coventry Cathedral, London civilian deaths etc.
Where is the military value there? Or why was there military certainty in lobbing a 2,000 pound warhead somewhere in London?
I don’t get it.
War is supported by populations. Maybe not everyone, maybe not even most. But, Germans had to pay the price. That is how wars are won. Not by decimating soldiers, but by decimating populations. Its why the US won in WW2, would have won in Vietnam after the bombing of Hanoi, and has not won in Iraq or Afganistan.
Bomb the crap out of them, make them surrender and make them pay for the rehabilitation.
this “you broke it you fix it” military mentality will never let us win another war.
