Donald Trump is often referred to as a “TV Reality show star”
Al Franken is always referred to as “Senator”.
A Trifecta of LIES!
I enjoyed his sweatered metrosexual Character, “...and dog gone it, I LIKE myself.”
I suppose it struck a chord because of all the self improvement stuff I had been going through in the decade preceding it.
I remember him from Trading Places. Not a character stretch for him. By the time he was on snl I had stopped watching.
He did mostly writing.
He has certainly reprised these characters and roles as senator from minnesotastan.
I guess snow isn't the only type of flake up there.
He’s not good enough, he’s not smart enough, and, gosh darn it, people DON’T like him. . .
I remember he was the least talented of all!!!
I’d wager your boil was funnier!!!
He’s not good enough, he’s not smart enough, and, gosh darn it, people DON’T like him. . .
“He played the fool - a part that comes naturally to him.”
___
And playing a fool makes being a democratic senator come naturally also.
“””””I thought he claimed St. Louis Park as his hometown...”””
He left here 49 years ago.
[If Franken runs in 2020, Jill Stein should be his VP candidate...]
Frankenstein, great team that.
I don't remember that, but I'm sure he will run for President with Jill Stein on the Green Party ticket: Franken/Stein. That will certainly get the Millennial Snowflake vote.
Better yet, a Franken and Davis ticket: Al Franken and Angela Davis.
The bit involved Franken (as a Wile E Coyote type) as an on-the-scene news reporter with a self-contained broadcasting unit. He would venture into dangerous areas and then be approached by baddies before the image goes to static.
One scene has him in an inner-city reporting on gangs when a bunch of mean-looking black dudes surround him. Another has him in Baghdad reporting on Tomahawk missile strikes when...

I don’t remember hearing the communist party reference, but then, I don’t remember a lot of things from that long ago.
He actually lost the election. The Minnesota Democrat Party got a recount and "found" boxes of ballots in trunks of cars (IIRC). When the numbers were in Al's favor they stopped counting and declared him the winner.
OK. I know that the election was tight so there is some veracity to calling Minnesotans clueless but at that time a real majority of them were not, and no, I am not from Minnesota.
