The right thing to do was to leave it there in the water and motor on to the next fishing spot. Even the cops can’t always be trusted. Some fish have to be thrown back.

He should have left it in the water and radioed the Coast Guard but stayed near enough to see the package but not touch it or put a line on it.

Alternately he could have contacted the DNC and told told them where their party pack was

When I was living in florida we saw square grouper weekly, you are right, let it rot and leave quickly, may be a pick up point with cartel thugs on the way...

I was on a scallop trawler running about 200 miles off ny, trawling toward massachusetts, a columbian trawler came close to us, and asked for bait...it definitely was a drug boat looking for its drop in international waters, the water was rough and having 2 150 foot trawlers near each other was dangerous, we moved away and hands went inside, manned the rifles..fortunatelyvthey left,,, we reported it, but in international waters it jeant nothing..
