Chase failed to confirm the identity of the person who brought the stolen check to the bank, and never should have cashed it, the new lawsuit claims. The bank declined comment.

A bank cashes a check for over $800k without confirming identity? WTF???

The bank will have to make good on it, this is just a line to kick the can down the road, until less attention is being paid.

The company I used to work for had a $50,000 check stolen, out of the mail. The thief printed a new check, using the numbers on the bottom, stole someone’s identity, and opened up a bank account, under that name. The phony check was deposited, and two weeks later, the account was cleaned out.

The bank VERY QUIETLY covered the loss.
