I know many conservatives that did exactly that. It's the difference between acting like an adult, to how the left are acting like children right now.
I'm encouraged to see people here shun those that are stuck on a failed ideology. We also need to shun them from the arena of ideas until they understand the Constitution comes first, when it comes to governance. Not that living breathing BS that they think allows them to make the Constitution anything they want to advance that failed ideology.

Two of our three daughters, and their husbands, are disappointed in us for voting for Trump. The third daughter refuses to talk to us, has blocked us from her phone and social media, and for our birthdays sent cards saying she’d made a donation in our name to Planned Parenthood and some Syrian rescue group.
We are waiting out her tantrum... but I’m not sure I can ever forget her cruel, cold behaviors and words. Good to know for our sunset years and I will make sure she is not in charge of what happens to me.
Despite my joy for our country, I am personally very sad about all the turmoil and strife.

I feel the same. Faceook used to be fun. Now people spew hatred and resort to name calling. They don’t even know how many people they are hurting or offending because the rational, quiet Trump supporters never say a word. I just hide their posts.
A friend I have had since high school (40 years!) posted, “Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed your birthday. Despite the fact that I’m sure we voted very differently, I still care about you and value you.”
Forty years and he magnanimously is willing not to let the election get in the way of our “friendship!” What a tolerant guy!
Still, the hostility and lack of civility makes me sad.
Prayers that God may open their eyes, to see the truth and his true value of freedom, from all the lies coming from the media and all the leftist ilk that has deceived so many Americans.

All I can say is unreal. To think that we can no longer have polite political discourse is terrible.
I am sorry that your family has become so divided to the point a child of yours refuses to have anything to do with you. That is truly sad. Perhaps at some point Maturity will come about and she will grow up and have a little more respect for you as parents.
I am so sad to read this and understand how it feels. I am praying that my own family situation resolves for the better, but hope is fading.
I agree. It is much easier to not have any liberal Friends, which is what I do as well.
Wow, that is so horrible. It’s one thing to disagree, but very mean-spirited to do what the third one did.
If my daughter did that to us, I’d donate her inheritance share to Voice of the Martyrs, a really good charity that aids persecuted Christians worldwide.
When I first met my husband, 9/11 was only a year old, we talked about that a bit and I got the sense he leaned right, so I agreed to go out to lunch with him.
Over lunch, we talked about politics and current events and I found out quickly that he is a good solid conservative with all of the values that go with it.

It kind of is the be all and end all. Tell me your political position and I pretty well know who you are.
If I am unfortunate enough to meet a liberal, I know what that person’s values are and that they are not compatible with mine. No need to take the interaction much further. They don’t share my morals and values.
They’re emotional toddlers.
Please don’t bad mouth Senator McCarthy. He was right, as proven by the Venona cables and the now released Senate records.
He had nothing to do with blacklisting Hollywood idiots. That was the HOUSE Unamerican Activities Committee (HUAC).
McCarthy was only interested in rooting out communists in the government and he found plenty.
