MOM, DAD, BABY DAUGHTER, ALL SHARE SAME BIRTHDAY
ABC11 ^ | Friday, January 27, 2017

A Wake County couple is counting their blessings while also working through their disbelief. Michael and Lisa Hall's daughter was born on the same day as both of their birthdays.

"We're just as shocked as everybody else," said Lisa Lowe-Hall.

Newborn London Hall was born on January 27. She shares a birthday with mom and dad. The chances of this happening are one in 48 million.

"It's the best birthday gift I think either one of us could have," said Lowe-Hall. "I think it is crazy that I have the same birthday as my husband and now to have my daughter's birthday the same day is extremely special."

London was due January 26. There were complications during labor and doctors at Rex Hospital decided to do a C-section.

London was delivered around 3 a.m. Friday morning.

"She is 6 pounds 7 ounces," explained mom. "Just to have my first child and it's a little girl, I really wanted a little girl really badly, so just to have her, and to have her healthy, is the main thing."

Technically the odds of that happening on a random basis are only 133,235 to 1. Certainly not 48 million to one.

Beat me to it. Its a ridiculous mistake to make in such an article. Even in puff pieces the quality just goes down hill.

I ‘love’ it when the perky news reader reports a 400 million lotto draw - then gasps and says ‘the odds of your winning are ******* to 1’

Neglecting to add that if the prize were one dollar the odds remain the same....

Now, the higher it gets makes the probability of winning change....

“My wife, our daughter-in-law, and grand-daughter (different daughter-in-law) all share the same birthday, August 28.”

That is so sweet and cool that it includes gals from all around the family.

I know someone who [almost] topped that. Her favorite band, for the last 30 years, since college, has been Rush. She has 3 kids. One shares a birthday with Alex, the second with Geddy, the 3rd was predicted to be on Neil’s birthday, but missed by 1 day.

That is cool too! My daughter and her aunt and uncle (who are her dad’s brother and sister) are all born in a 7 day span in January. So we are now done with birthdays until March, when me, my daughter’s husband and my daughter’s best friend are also all born in a 7 day span!

This is correct as written, as he specified a particular day of the year. But as others here have mentioned, three people having the same birthday is not the same as three people being born on January 27. That said, I am inclined to agree that the reporter would probably not be aware of that difference.

- kinda cool.

Not really. Not for the rest of the family. I once married into multiple relations/same b-day family, four that I remember.

It got old, fairly fast.

I pitied the parent-in-law that had to put up with it for decades..., once I understood what PITA it was.

I have 8 people in my family all born in September.
I don’t like September. I always breath a sigh of relief when September is over .... until Christmas.

The odds of this happening are no where near 1 in 48 million! If a person wants a spouse with the same birthday, he or she finds a person with the same birthday and marries that person.

Then those two put in the order for a child about 270 days prior to their birthday. If the wife is ovulating the chances of conception are high and the chances of a baby being born exactly 270 days later are about 1 in 3.

If the wife in not ovulating then but will be ovulating with the next ten days, they put in the order then. The full term baby will be due a few days after their birthday but it will be almost 100% safe to induce labor on their birthday. The odds are then much above 50%.

The 1 in 48 million assumes all three birth events are independent events. That assumption would be closer to being true if it was grandpa, papa, and baby who were all born on the same date.

My wife had my twin daughters on my birthday.

Congratulations on a two-fer. My youngest daughter was born on my birthday. Was supposed to come a week later but surprised us and made her exit on my birthday. It's been fun sharing the cake every year since when we can (for 34 years).

That’s nothing. The mother, father and children in our family all have the same last name!
