OTOH, then California Attorney General Earl Warren pushed hard for it. He was the left's favorite appointment of Ike Eisenhower.
We visited Heart Mountain Internment site in Wyoming several years ago. At the museum was a group of public high school students with their twenty something teacher. The instructor several times said that a director ordered the internment of Japanese residents in the western part of the nation. She seemed to want to avoid saying the words Democrat or President Roosevelt.
I could not resist, "In a loud voice I exclaimed, "Oh my look at this document, Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt was the one who ordered thousands of innocent Japanese families into internment camps."
One of the students asked his teacher, "Is it true- a Democrat President did this?"
The teacher's face flushed, "Time to go"
