I agree because we do need the program but at the same time we need to make it a employer of last resort.

Tax them. Regulate them. Make it cost more to hire a foreign worker to do a job than it does to hire an American worker to do the same job.

Jobs American's won't do? Raise the wage enough and they will line up to apply.

Jobs American's can't do? You have got to be kidding. We damn near built this world. We can do anything.

I think that the H1B ‘bosses’ should be forced to put down on the form the current salary of the worker being replaced, and then be mandated to pay that exact same salary to the import guy. If you lie on the form and say it’s not a replacement guy, but you end up doing anyway....then a fine of $2 million per situation ought to be required.

It’s time to treat this thing as a bogus deal to bring cheap labor into the US.

Yes. Simply shutting down the H1B program would mean not recruiting the best and brightest from around the world. That has been good for American industry.

What we need to eliminate is the hiring of foreign workers just because the businesses don’t want to pay what American workers demand. That can be done by making it more expensive to hire foreign workers than American — but if the foreign worker is really exceptional it will be worth it.
