If you are a good investor and have some money, you can get rich.

So true. I remember reading an article on Oprah Winfrey (I dislike her, but respect her financial smarts). Another woman was telling her how fantastic a new pair of shoes were, that she was telling all her friends to buy the shoes. Oprah bought lots of stock in the shoe company, and made lots of money on it. When she likes a product, she buys the stock in the company making the product; while regular folks just buy the product.

Yello had a song about racing too (The Race)

While they had cheap videos, they made a bunch of them (over a dozen different ones)

According to Ferrari, that engine is a “180-degree V12.” :)

And unlike, say a VW flat four or Porsche flat six, each pair of cylinders shares a single crankshaft throw - an arrangement Porsche also used in the flat-12 that powered the 917. Using a separate throw for each cylinder would result in a longer engine, and in any case it isn’t necessary since such a 12-cylinder engine is basically two inline sixes sharing a crankshaft.

In the last twelve years I have only missed the Historics/Motorsports reunion once - one of the perks of being a volunteer race worker with SCCA. :) Along with the GTO’s I mentioned, this past year we had race groups featuring Can-Am and Formula One cars, and there is almost always a group featuring vintage Trans-Am.

But back to the GTO - one car I see at vintage race events here pretty often belongs to a fellow here in the Bay Area. I saw it running at Monterey this year, and after looking closely at it for a few laps I realized it was the same car as the one I had selected as the wallpaper on my computer at work!

There’s a documentary on Ralph Lauren’s car collection. He loaned it out to a museum. Worth a watch for car nuts. His collection is amazing.

This is a short clip on it:

Those “high school” kids were really in their late 20’s and early 30’s when they filmed FB Day Off.

Novelty song turns into $175M fortune?

Something tells me Ferris would be quite pleased at this turn of events. Maybe he’s the one responsible for the stock tips?

Yep. And then she charges the company to promote it on her show.

Very clever way to leverage celebrity.

The Yello duo has been around since 1979...saying Meier’s fortune is down to that one song is BS. And it ain’t “techno”...
