Actor Jeff Bridges Calls Out Leftists On Their Anti-Trump Hostility Dividing The Country

In an interview with CNN, movie star Jeff Bridges took aim at the nastiness perpetrated by the Left in the hopes of destroying President Trump, and the country along with it.

"That's what I think is needed today, to kind of put a check on ourselves and knowing what's right or wrong and being so sure that [President] Trump is an asshole and that he's going to be terrible and all this," Bridges told CNN Money on Thursday.

"You can have very strong opinions, but to go after this peace and this beauty that we're after I think we gotta show up and give a little space for something beautiful to bloom out of it," he added.

"We point fingers at people, we point fingers at Trump, he points fingers at people," the "Big Lebowski" actor said. "How are we going to come together and realize that we're on this little dust speck in space, you know? Things are finite here, you know. How are we going to work together to make the most beautiful existence that we can, you know?"

"As the Dude might say," he adds, "'this aggression will not stand.'"

CNN Money spoke to the screen legend at his home in Montecito, California, and noted that "Bridges sounds like a more spiritual version of 'The Dude', the character he famously played in 'The Big Lebowski.' He speaks of zen and peace and quotes Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and calls for patience and understanding among all Americans."

Already an Oscar winner, Bridges just received his seventh Academy Award nomination for his performance as Texas Ranger Marcus Hamilton in "Hell or High Water," a Western heist film about two brothers who rob banks to save their family ranch.

It's actually this character, more than the zen slacker-bowler Bridges plays in "Lebowski," who might inspire some of the patience and understanding Bridges talks about.

Shortly after Trump's upset victory, Bridges said in an interview that he's "rooting for the guy, but we'll see how it all goes."

"One of the things that’s most appealing about him is his unpredictability," he told Entertainment Weekly. "A less kind word might be his hypocrisy, but unpredictability and hypocrisy are things that each of us human beings share."

GREAT movie!!!

Another (mostly) unknown Bridges movie is Rancho Deluxe.

A little weird, but fun to watch.

“True Grit”.....one of the best movies ever made. John Wayne was good. Bridges was perfect in that roll.

“Jeff Bridges Urges Cooperation in Trump Era...”
Then he said “Dude!” and laughed that crazy laugh of his.
Then George Kennedy punched him.

Just saw "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" again for the first time in decades.

What a great movie with Jeff Bridges and Clint Eastwood and George Kennedy.

Saw it for free on TubiTV.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot

Good '70s flick. Lots of familiar faces in the supporting cast, too - such as Jack Dodson (best known as Mayberry's county clerk). I'm not sure if George Kennedy had the right of first refusal for generic "mean bastard" character roles before then, but he certainly did put his stamp on it with Clint's film.

Yeah, the one with Jimmy Buffett. Definitely a bit weird. Entertaining, though.

Now that you mention it; I just watched The Getaway (1972) with Steve McQueen and Ali Macgraw. Jack Dodson was in that too. His wife was played by Sally Struthers. Great scene where McQueen knocks out a screaming Struthers.

I’d watch anything with George Kennedy in it at least once.

At some point even a stoner has to wake up and realize that protesting a peaceful transition of power via democratic elections is uncool, man. Who will be the last leftist idiot to turn out the lights? Rosie? Patton? Alec? What a world we live in when Steve Baldwin is much wiser than his older bro.

Jeff was great as the retiring Texas Ranger in hell or high water this year, if there is any justice he should win all of the awards (although his comments wont help him with the hollyweird left)
