lack of security updates are not the reason to give up an o/s that works for you.
Oops... did I inadvertently give the impression I'd stop using Win7 (at home) when the security updates stop? I'll just continue being careful. Besides, I have Mac and Linux and other OSes that do my primary work -- the Windows boxes are for programs that only run on Windows.
At work, my company makes software that has to remain compatible (and thus gets tested and validated on) operating systems that go all the way back to 2005-era Linux, Windows, Solaris, FreeBSD... We still test on WinXP. We'll still be testing on Win7 when the Sun goes supernova.
