Donald Trumps running war on the media is continuing into his presidency, with statements over the weekend calling into question the extent to which information from the White House can be trusted.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Monday will hold his first daily press briefing at which he could face questions about a statement Saturday night that included demonstrably false assertions about the crowd size at Fridays inauguration and a promise by the new administration that were going to hold the press accountable.
Some Trump supporters will no doubt cheer the continued antagonism toward the media that was central to the Republicans campaign for president. Now the stakes are higher.
Press secretaries have been lied to by their bosses, or misled reporters through the omission of information, but veteran journalist Dan Rather said Sunday it was the first time he could recall false material being delivered in this way. I hope that people will stop, pull back for what we in television call a wide shot and see what is happening, Rather said. This is a deliberate propaganda campaign.

Well, they’ve always thought that way of us, but the thing is to make them respect us and not think they can push us around.
Fighting fire with fire. I love it!
See how this is suddenly an issue with Trump as POTUS, but never, ever with Obama.
Dan Rather, with his “fake, but accurate” smear campaign against President Bush is the reason I refuse to watch CBS News to this day.
The media hatred for Trump is unlike anything I’ve ever imagined. I remember the enmity that the media had for Nixon, and I can say, this is an order of magnitude worse.
Trump will never get a fair shake from the media, so I hope he and Bannon do all they can to destroy what little faith the public has in getting the truth from the MSM.

the media hatred of Trump is indeed much worse than Nixon, and i believe that’s because Trump fights back. it’s also because they are losing their rights to become a cosseted set of self appointed celebrities who will always get invited to the White House to share the limelight with all the world leaders who are invited there. also, it’s because Trump goes over their heads when he tweets, making them less powerful as a funnel for getting the news out. it’s time that someone reminded the media that they are not a sacrosanct entity that can do or say anything without consequences, and hopefully, that might make them consider reporting the news truthfully and objectively for a change, rather than putting their spin on what the president has to say. that they will no longer be given a protected class status with President Trump.
