I noticed that too but wasn't it neat to be reminded that everyone here has a real name and a real life? We really are the "fabric" of this great nation.

Mine are very different. All Christian conservatives with a few libs tossed in. When I see their posts, I hide them if they are political. People are so excited about our new President and First Family. It is hard to keep up with the posts and pictures. I like to read the comments, too. I especially loved the video of the Trumps at the church where “How Great Thou Art” was sung and Melania wiping her eyes. Very touching. This was the best birthday I have had in a long time. Yeah!

The Database Server "went down hard" (probably hardware failure) -- and was down or nearly 48 hours. And, John probably got very little sleep during that time.
You who gripe: would you have worked around two clocks for a group of people who very seldom appreciate all your efforts?

Reminds me of that one time cleaning the FOP. Nastiest crap growing in the bottom of the fuel tanks all nice and concentrated in one spot. It was kind of amazing how much fuel it could hold if it was kept perfectly upright. It was balanced perfectly. The XO snuk into the hole on 4-8 watch and lands his patent leathers on the deck just as the ship rolled a bit. The whole stack of cones tips over and covered his feet in diesel......

When I looked at FB, and put in Free Republic in the search, it took me to a page that had zero activity and was like a holding page. I couldn’t find any way to pose a question or ask anything about FR being down. While I have a FB account, I stopped using it for the most part over the summer. They have shown me that the censor people with whom they have a difference of opinion. FB thinks they get to show me what is newsworthy and what isn’t. They routinely disregard privacy settings, at least mine. I ask that I get no notifications to my email, but I get them nearly every day. So sorry that I could not find the FB page to which you are referring. It would have been some small comfort to see that there was an avenue to be in touch with other FReepers for the last few days. As it was, I turned my efforts into doing other things.

The page (or group) is called something like: Free Republic (official site). Yes, anyone can create a page or a group and there appear to be several of FR including a page that simply defines it. So look for that in future.
I enjoy spending time there blocking, insulting, unfriending and unfollowing liberal foes. It’s dirty work as they say...

I was being blunt for a purpose. I am deeply grateful to Jim and all he has done. I have actually been on FB since 95 I believe. The conversation has to happen. I am in no way looking to take any control in any way from Jim. What I want to point out is this group has been HIGHLY effective politically for over 20 years. The enemies of this Free republic (this site and our country) are organized, hostile and well funded. We need to talk about upping our own infrastructure to prevent down time during important events. I am betting 99% of us thought it was deliberate. ( I still dont know ) I know I got up at 4 am and it was down. Not likely that it was due to traffic that early east coast time. So if we need to assist to take it to a new level I want to have that conversation on the table. Please Jim do not take my words as an attack.
