Supporting her husband as he was sworn in as president, Melania Trump looked a vision in a baby blue custom Ralph Lauren dress and coat.
And as she stood by Donald Trump's side as he took the oath of office in the Jackie Kennedy-inspired ensemble, the designer saw their company stock soar.
When Ralph Lauren shares closed on Thursday before the inauguration, they were at $88.20 a share in what has been a quiet month for the American firm.

To be fair, Mrs. Obama has had some very nice outfits that actually fit her properly and did what a well-designed outfit is supposed to do, enhance the positives and mask the negatives. Sadly, she tried to be avant-garde and failed a lot. Her physique does not lend itself to what a stick-figure and often very young model can get away with.
Mrs. Trump will be expected to be perfect all the time, which should be easier for her considering her model background and physique, but that doesn’t mean everything she wears will be liked by all. My mother didn’t like her ball gown but did like what some of the daughters were wearing.
Icon as in holy image as defined my the MSM. There is no iconography without worship.

It was the vision of the iconic bride in a dress that symbolizes both the untouchable purity of a princess and the regal perfection of a queen. My vision was recreated by Ralph Lauren to perfection. Melania, on that historic day was transformed in a spiritual sense to the role of America’s First Lady.

That cartoon does not exaggerate the difference at all!!
IMO it’s a little worse than that.
Ivanka’s daytime outfit was WEIRD and extremely unflattering. OTOH, it was her ballgown that stole the show!
