As far as behaving no differently than any other 18-year old, my millennial were 18 in high school...they never went clubbing, drinking or smoked pot like she has. Not all 18 year old girls (or guys for that matter) are acting like her.
But lots of them doand they turn out just fine.
However, I won’t justify or normalize it...I don’t care if lots turn out OK, I don’t think it is wise to condone, normalize, justify public masturbation which is what Twerking is with drinking added to the mix...talk about perfect storm...No thanks.
Also I think it depends on how define “fine.” My daughter had a friend from her sports days in junior high school...Friend went off to University of Colorado...barely graduated, and had at least 2 abortions—maybe more...I know because my daughter was buying her friend pregnancy tests...Friend now is married, a mom with 2 kids (guy was standup and married her when she became pregnant).
Question, ...Did she turn out “fine?” Depends on definition of “fine...” Maybe she is fine, but I sure would not wish her past situations and actions for any of my family members.
BTW, I would not allow my kids to drink, club, or twerk while in high school...Fortunately, good friend groups and athletic codes helped back up my wishes. My millennials seemed to keep their noses clean in college, did well, seem happy.
Perhaps better said that some (lots?) turn out fine IN SPITE of twerking, drinking, clubbing at age 18...
“You know, I could read into what you are saying that you are justifying underage drinking, twerking, clubbing. If that is the case, then that is your prerogative.”
I’m neither approving or justifying it,I am saying that it happens.
Big difference.
Kids are all different, parenting styles are different, and that’s the way it is.
